uConsole + CM5 Lite: Black screen / Won't boot

Hi all,

After a long wait, my uConsole finally arrived! However, after assembling it with a CM5 Lite, the screen stays black and it won’t boot despite all my attempts.

I need help—how can I get my uConsole working?

most probably it’s a cm5 issue, check this thread please

also, can you connect an external display via mini/micro-hdmi?

EEPROM config and the CM5 lite

With the upcoming release of NVME capable adapter boards from @vileer & @lululvlv I have changed up the EEPROM config to be able to use them. If you have a CM5 lite and are having problems with the sd card booting or have already updated the config but plan on getting a NVMe board. You need to edit your EEPROM and your CM5 lite has to have updated firmware that was released after 2025-01-06. Hi , I tried to connect external display, and still nothing output. BTW, I tried to flash eeprom with pi imager with another sd card, and waited untill hdmi output from all red screen to nothing. Still can not boot

If your hdmi screen shows nothing you have a different issue to fix first, might be something not connected properly.
Do you have some pictures of the inside? Maybe we can spot an issue.

Actually, I haven’t tried HDMI because I don’t have a Micro-type cable; I’ll order one and see.

CM5 WORKING! After all this time & effort it turns out to be so easy

My CM5 box says CM5 108000 When I use the small sd card with the boot loader I see a red screen on the hdmi monitor attached to the uConsole. I did download ClockworkPi-Trixie-6.12.87 Extracted it and flashed it to a Sandusky Extreme 64gb sd card Nothing at all happens when I boot to it There is nothing displayed or changes on the uConsole screen or the connected hdmi Here are photos [IMG_8753] [IMG_8754] [IMG_8755]

I flashed the OS using Raspberry Pi Imager. I selected “Raspberry Pi 5” as the device, and then chose “Use custom” to flash the image file.

I am frustrated.

most probably you need to update an epprom, for it you need to find working sd card or “io board”

also you shouldn’t apply any custom settings during writing os image.

you can do better diagnostics via hdmi and an external display

use custom in rpi imager means use a downloaded image file instead of downloading an official pi image

please upload pictures of the inside so we can see if you have everything as it should be, do you have any other way to use the CM5? so you can confirm it is working ok.
