I’ve been dealing with this issue that whenever I bring my USB C cable in contact with the USB C plug on uConsole, when the metals touch, the screen would flash.
The device continues to work and flashing only lasts for the duration of “plugging-unplugging” phase. I’ve attached a video.
I suspect this is due to logic ground changing but would like a better opinion and tips to solve this.
For reference, this issue happens across different brands of power supply. I believe they’re good brands too (Ikea, Satechi, Apple). Could be something in my home power supply?
Have you reseated everything? The panel ribbon cable could be loose, check and reseat. Check and make sure the CM4 is fully seated in the adapter, with the adapter fully in the SODIMM connector.
You said different power supplies, did you also use separate cables?
Thanks, yes I reseated and cleaned the contacts but no dice.
To give a bit more idea, this happens as soon as the two metal shields on the usb c cable and plug touch, so it really makes me wonder if interference is the culprit. However it doesn’t always happen (50% chance).
I’ve tried different cables, and also both USB A - USB C and USB C-C.
Usually it indeed is once. But if I just play with the connector without actually plugging it. I elaborate: you just touch the outer metal (ground) housing together, none of the pins would make contact for another ~1-2mm. Then it happens often.
Anyway, yeah I’m waiting for a copper tape to try it, will post an update here.
