I was wondering, the Uconsole seems awesome to take on a trip on the road, with perhaps antenna(s) on the roof attached to the RTL-SDR Extension board for GPS and/or Radio in remote areas.
Also was thinking about maybe connecting it to a Bluetooth OBD dongle, so get live status updates, and some motion sensor(s), to perhaps even show the inclination of the vehicle (its an offroad capable 4WD).
Mind that this is really a test setup, if it all works im thinking about installing an industrial type Rpi casing more permanently in the car, with a proper touchscreen as control unit, but for now the Uconsole seems like a great building/testing platform.
So, 2 questions:
1: Did anyone find a proper way to mount a Uconsole in a car? I was first thinking about a Tablet holder for a car, but i suspect the Uconsole is quite a bit heavier. So suggestions welcome!
2: And since im asking anyway, did anyone try connecting OBD on the Uconsole? And if so, which software etc?
Thanks! Do you think something cheap like in below link would work? Would like it wireless. And does not have to be THAT cheap, but also dont like to spend more than necessary
And is that software a general tool, or specific for that device?
Im curious why the Bluetooth ones would not work. Is there no option to just use them as a Bluetooth Serial input or something? Must say im very new to OBD, so might still have some wrong assumptions
Ok thanks! And yeah, in the end i just want to get the raw data out of it, and build my own interface, but would be good to have some software already to see whats actually being output. Seems to vary a lot per car.
Edit: This seems promising, it specifically mentions the Raspberry: python-OBD
