V2 AIO - AC1200 Not Recognized

I purchased the V2 AIO with the AC1200. I turned on the all the ports with the AIO_CTRL service. I plug in the AC 1200 and the red power light lights up, however, lsusb (as root) only shows the V2 AIO USB Host and not the AC1200 device.

Notes:
I’ve tried the AC1200 on the other USB board and the power lights up, but still will not be detected when I run lsusb (as root)

Has anyone seen this issue before?

what CM are you using and what OS image?

Rex,

Thanks for your reply. I’m using a CM5 with your Bookworm 6.12.87 image.

It should work then. You try it in another port of a different device?

not sure when you bought your AIO v2 but could be this:

Basil,
I thought that might be the issue as well, but when I tried it on another port it still did not show up with lsusb.

Yes, I’ve tried it on all the other ports and it still will not show up on lsusb. I have a ALFA Network AWUS036ACS wifi adapter and when I plug it in I see it under lsusb. So I don’t think it a port or power issue on the uconsole.

If it’s not even showing up at all with lsusb on any port, then unfortunately there might be a problem with the card. I’d send an email over to hackergadgets.
Even if you were running an OS without the driver’s it would still show up, just not be able to be used.

That was my thought as well, but didn’t want to be missing something obvious. Thanks for the help.

Funny enough I also just plugged in my AC1200 (came in the mail yesterday) and it is also not showing with lsusb. However, my AIO v2 was ordered early enough that it has the resistor/power supply related issue. Keep us posted on what you figure out. Might be able to help each other!

Same here.No port on uconsole powers ac1200 but laptop does. Checked ribbon cables and batteries.

If it doesn’t show up on any port, then the WiFi card may be defective. You can plug it into a PC or laptop for last try. If it didn’t show up in the device manager or lsusb, contact shop@hackergadgets.com for a replacement.

@uujayfuzz @basil Which port you were trying to plug in? The side USB-C should work, and for the internal USB-C, it have to turn on the power of the internal USB-C first. For more information about it, check the important note for AIO v2 on this page: HackerGadgets uConsole AIO V1/V2 Extension Board setup Guide – Hacker Gadgets

That is interesting, since your post I plugged my AC1200 into my PC and it shows up as an unrecognized device. I downloaded the device drivers for it from the Microsoft Catalog, but no joy there either.. I guess I’ll have to break out my meter and test the resistor value of the 0402 to see what value it has. I’m still iffy on it that’s the issue if other USB devices did show up on the same port that I tried, if I find out anything concrete, I will post an update. I hope your resolution is easier. Right now I’m just using an external Alpha WiFi adapter for my monitor mode needs.

Make sure you install and power up the ports with the aiov2_ctl, the github page is as follows:

https://github.com/hackergadgets/aiov2_ctl

so turns out I was also having some issues with the HackerGadgets NVME battery board not seating correctly and causing some power issues so when I swapped that back to the stock battery board I had the AC1200 show up in lsusb for me. still need to do some testing and see if I have some power related issues during actual use.

(I did forget to turn the usb on at first hahaha)

Gross oversight on my part. Read the instructions for SDR but somehow went dumb on this. RTFM, thank you

No problem. It not something that you normally have to do, but I guess in the spirit of saving power, its not a bad idea to turn power off to ports.

Yeah, because once you screw the case. You don’t want to unscrew it to remove the device just to save power.
