Wifi ESP32 CodeMCU on PicoCalc

Anyone managed to use ESP32 on PicoCalc for wifi?

Still waiting for mine and considering solutions…

Someone can find this article useful too =>

I have used these a few times, mostly with an Arduino, but once or twice with Pico 1’s before the Pico 1W came out. Is there a specific reason you want use use one of these as opposed to just using a Pico 1W or 2W? The reason I ask is this adds a layer of complexity that is unnecessary unless your project needs two Wfi connections or you have no access to a Pico 1W or 2W.

Agree on complexity, but this project is kind of brain training after all
The fact is that I have Pico1 arriving with PicoCalc and one Pico2 with ESP32 and 8266
on the desk from the other projects.

I would highly recommend just getting a Pico 1 W or Pico 2 W (the latter unless the RP2350 GPIO issue is a dealbreaker) – both of them really are quite cheap and plentiful all things considered. What you’re doing is far more effort and complexity than should be necessary, and is much more likely to be error-prone.

Oh and BTW, I tried writing a driver for using an ESP8285 (a flash-on-chip counterparts to the ESP8266) with an AT protocol over SPI with zeptoforth on the RP2040. That was a nightmare – I eventually gave up and deprecated all my code because I could never get it reliable enough that I could put my name to it.

Agree
Claim, they are cheap stands.
Already have Pico 2 procured locally, no pain.
The near available Pico 2 W within EU land was in Poland.
Ordered, paid and shipped on May 07 !
The forwarder DHL and later local Post.
Still not delivered :stuck_out_tongue: .

EDIT: Mr. Postman finally on delivery now
Pico 2W in my hands…
