Any successful antenna upgrade stories ?. Which model, why, how much improvement did you see ?. AIOv1 or v2 ?
Is there a great all round SDR antenna or is there no choice but to have a set to suit the band you’re scanning at the time ?.
AIOv2 experience on various bands ?, any that are simply unusable ?
Supplied with my AIOv2…
If that was mine, I’d move the gps antenna to the spot on the far right. It has the most distance to the next connector.
I placed it there to give easier power switch and SD card access. The SDR aerial was going on the side but I didnt get the socket in my kit (ordered from Hackergadgets and out of stock parts from Aliexpress). Socket that arrived today from Amazon has a too big back nut …

That brass is super soft. File down 2 opposing sides and run it….

Still getting full speed yet noticed today, back corner of the house wi-fi -70dbm. Removed the Hackergadget wifi aerial, -70dbm. Surely something is amiss here !
SDR antennas are going to depend on what you are trying to do. The one that came with the kit seems great for fm so far.
I upgraded the lora antenna to a 900mhz whip antenna that I use for most of my meshtastic gear.
I am upgrading the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth antenna but that’s just for visuals honestly.
If you want to get fancy you can buy a nano vna and test antennas at the frequency you care about.

Dumb question, is your antenna rp sma? I connected an rp sma wifi antenna to mine without noticing and it mostly worked for wifi but Bluetooth choked. A real sma antenna fixed it right away.
If you remove the original wifi antenna while stood in a weak spot do you see a difference in the dbm value ?
The cm5 wifi or th aiov2 wifi?
CM5 wifi routed to the Hackergadgets aerial and mount…
Classic. For some reason the boot config.txt had reverted to ant1, now ant2 again.
Ant1 = -86dbm
Ant2 = -68dbm
A slight improvement as expected, will try a larger wifi5 antenna asap.
How are you checking dbi? I’ll check in a bit. Wifi is bad at the end of my house so it could be a good test
first one is my antenna attached, second is no antenna
