Bookworm 6.12.y for the uConsole and DevTerm

Hello, forgive the dumb question. I have a uConsole with a CM5. Do I have to write a new SD image for every new release? I have a great setup now and would hate to start over. Can I install the latest release and keep my setup?

It happens that I just have a CM3! @Rex, you are my hero! :star_struck:

no, if you already have it all setup you’re good. everything will update, if you wanted to use a cm3 you would need to edit your config.txt to add the stuff for it or flash a new image.

Not sure it’s a good place to post, but found this site a while back: https://www.farnell.com/
They have a wide variety and stock for Raspberry Pi products, CM, Pi4,5, Pi Zero, Pico and so on. Maybe someone was looking for stock.

I just got done with my Devterm… Still no good. Tried Parrot Home, Security, and Bookworm with the cm3+. All I get is backlight on the display, If I leave it sitting long enough, the backlight goes out, roll the mouse and backlight returns. Part of it is working.

I tried extending the partition in gparted to see if that might be an issue.

Uncommented the Devterm line for each processor type, and comment out the uconsole for each. Double checked the config to make sure the changes stuck.

The Clockwork image does work, but way out of date. I’m thinking that my hardware may be from the first revision and that something strange is happening. None of the 6.x kernels have worked, they pretty much give the exact conditions, and I don’t remember hdmi working either.

Ok let me make a change and build a new lite image for you to test. I think I know what it is.

Hi everyone @Rex , I am running into an issue.
I am using a 128 GB card on my uConsole with Bookworm 6.12.y.

I recently installed PowerShell ( which obviously does not take up 128 GB ) and I’m starting to get this error when I try to install a module:

Not getting it when I perform for example: sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade

Can anyone guide me to fix this ? Kind of confused.

I’m rebuilding the kernel with the panel driver clockwork used with their CM3 image. I had to rename it to not mess with the CM4/5 panel driver. If I gave you just the kernel could you make use of it to test or should I make a lite image for you to test?

seems like your partition wasn’t extended, run sudo raspi-config and extend partition from there

Sound like you need to expand your sd card. sudo raspi-config to do so.

Just love this community.
Thanks a bunch ! Fixed it.

I’m sorry for asking, but I need to know – why?

haha, no worries, no harm done.
i’m a Microsoft 365 admin, sometimes I need to run scripts on the go to export / fix stuff using the Microsoft administrative modules like ( MS Graph, Exchange Online, Microsoft Teams ) … it’s much handier to just run them on the uConsole, than carrying my laptop with me.

Microsoft kind of sticks to their modules, they can’t even keep the PowerShell ones up-to-date and working flawlessly, let alone bringing out new ones for Linux for example.

or atleast that’s the plan, I’ll see if I stick to doing so

just in case: Running a hypervisor?

Yeah, not really the case, but thanks ! Would ditch Windows if I could, but kind of the purpose of my job.
Found this guide a while back to install PowerShell on RPI and then just use it seamlessly, without depending on Windows.

But, as alternative I found some guides a while back, to run Windows 11/10 on containerized in Docker on Raspberry Pi 5, that was pretty neat.

Since i cant see the OS running, im not sure i can put the new kernel in. If its as simple as copy file to the card, then yes I can do that.

If it matters, ive been using the uconsole and raspi imager to get the images to the card.

OK, I’ll just make a new lite image for you to just test with. You didn’t apply any custom settings when flashing the image right?

Of course the old devterm cm3 driver won’t compile with 6.12 had to make a few changes to bring it up to date. I was hopping since the panel driver worked with the CM4&5 the CM3 would work to but no.

I’ll shoot you a DM when I have a link with the image.
