Hey @Rex , Great work with cm5. I need to ask something. Can I update my current Bookworm cm4 image and and use the same with cm5 or I need to reinstall?

You will need to do a fresh install. I’m still working on the panel driver to get it 100% reliable with the cm5, it currently works but fails to activate 20% of the time .

Thanks. I am running my current system with cwm (calm window manager) and plenty of customization. This is going to be a lot of work.

What do you mean by panel driver? Is it about lxpanel or something?

The driver that runs the panel’s (screen) timing was off and caused tearing, discoloration, and artifacting. I got it to to where it displays correctly now on the CM4&5 but 20% of the time the startup doesn’t happen when it’s suppose to so the panel fails to display an image. That’s what I’m currently working on addressing.

Could you gather some dmesg? I vaguely remember a similar issue when upgrading kernel (and the drm interface changes again).

The panel driver already does some retry – while it works for CM4/A06/etc. I always feel bad about that part.

I’ll DM you some tomorrow, Thanks!

Here a new guy into the clockworkpi. About to order a rpi cm5 16GB. To eMMC or not to eMMC?

EDIT:
Read if you got eMMC version, the sd card won’t work. So RPI CM5W16GBLITE it is.

I was told to get the lite version. The emmc might be slightly faster, but you need a carrier board to flash it.

I was about to purchase cm5 with emmc as lite version is not available in India, but after reading your post, I have decided to wait till lite version becomes available.

What is the best way to auto-start uconsole-4g?
init.d? systemd?

The Kali image is not booting for me.
Tried it 3 times. Going to try other sd-card.
Card is the Sandisk 128GB 10 U3 I

Using Sandisk 64 10 U1 fixed my issue.

Using the Bookworm 6.6.66 v2 image on a DevTerm CM4 boots to white screen only… Wrote the image w/ Raspi Imager

did you change the config.txt to use the devterm? did you apply any custom settings?
make sure to make the changes to the config.txt to work with the devterm and don’t use any custom settings with rpi imager.

Yeah I didn’t see the config! – that booted it up, but the screen is rotated…

After completing the setup with this rotated screen and reaching the desktop, neither the keyboard or mouse work

do they still not respond after a reboot? maybe a bad connection with the keyboard?
