Keys and mouse work after reboot, and flipping screen orientation in settings gets the orientation to DevTerm style, but everytime after boot it disconnects from my wifi and seems to label it “5G”. The stock install of this devterm didn’t have wifi issues… Is there a 5G setting I missed?
not that i’m aware of. i haven’t experienced or heard of wifi problems like that. did you apply any custom settings in rpi imager when you flashed?
Just want to buy a cm module with 4G memory and no emmc. But I can only found the one with 16g or 32g emmc.
(We need a new core board with full CM5 features supports.
Here in India, cm5 lite (no emmc) is sold through commercial re-sellers only, while for retail consumers, emmc models are sold. It may be same everywhere.
Hey Rex,
great job with CM5, I do have CM5 with 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of EMMC storage. It mostly works, I’ve found issue with power off doesn’t work all the time. Do you know about this issue? Sometimes I can’t power down my uConsole without removing batteries. Even long press of power button doesn’t kill it. All this works fine with CM4, so maybe it’s just matter of power management of AXP2xx chip, maybe?
Have you experienced this issue or it’s just me?
Thanks!
That’s a know issue. I’m on holiday for a week right now but will be working on it again as soon as I get home.
Great! Enjoy your holiday! Thanks!
Hey Rex, I had a question. How would I go about updating once this patch (or future patches) are released? Would I have to reflash the new image or could I update my existing installation another way?
Also hope you enjoy your vacation!
apt update && apt upgrade
There is no need to re-flash mostly. That is how it worked for cm4, and should be with cm5 also.
Which cm5 version should I purchase? I decided on 8GB lite version (no emmc) as SD card doesn’t work with emmc.
Now with 8GB lite there are two options, with or without wifi. Is there is any advantage in paying little more for wifi version or in-built wifi of uconsole is fine?
I believe that the uconsole wifi won’t work without the cm4/5 having wireless capability, so I would recommend getting the wireless cm5
UConsole uses the CM4/5 wifi so you need to order the one with WiFi. The motherboard wifi connector is for other CM modules not made by raspberry PI foundation.
@Rex Why not feature Pi-Apps as a bundled store?
I can see about adding it.
Will there be an updated image for Retropie and CM5?
There will be once the cm5 is fully working.
Is it really necessary to do a fresh install to update to CM5? I have a perfectly working CM4 system that would take Months to set up again, and want to update it to a CM5. What exactly needs to be changed to do this, even if it’s a bit more complex? I could also make a new thread if we want to document this process somewhere for everyone.
I would assume that one of the first steps is to copy over the new overlays, and enabling them in the config.txt. What else?
you would have to force change out the kernel package. it’s not that hard but i’m not going to support it because of the risk of making the image not bootable or loosing data.
changing over should be easy just reinstall software and copy all your dotfiles over.
you can always copy /home
folder to a new system
Well I have many internal system changes, copying software and config alone won’t do it.
Okay, so only the kernel package is needed? And the same kernel also runs on the CM4 right? So that shouldn’t be too hard, I’ll try it once I get a CM5 delivered.
I can just make an image of the current SD card, so there is no risk at all if anything goes wrong.
