Can raspberry zero be used on picocalc?

Has anyone tried connecting to picocale with zero? I don’t know if it can run.

No, the PicoCalc is designed for the Raspberry Pi Pico, the Pi Zero is incompatible. If you are looking for Pi Zero like functionality, you can use the Luckfox Lyra, there are a couple of threads here on doing that.

I wish they made pico calc with pie zero form factor

No wifi or Bluetooth

I have ordered that board looks powerfull for what it is

  1. Pico 1W/Pico 2W have bluetooth/wifi (firmware may be not ready yet)

  2. you can use alternative boards with same form factor, for example: Luckfox Lyra on PicoCalc

Go to Elecrow and have a look at the Hackberry Pi Zero, maybe it is closer to what you need.

Luckfox Lyra has a model with a net port. I wonder if it can be used.

The Lyra with the ethernet port would require a case mod since it wouldn’t fit in the regular PicoCalc case.

I think the plan to use an ESP32 for wireless is a better idea, and should fit in the existing case:

Personally, I’m hoping to use the USB-host cable for Lyra to connect a USB dongle and add wifi/bluetooth. I don’t think anyone has tried that yet, but I’m hoping drivers exist in Linux for it. (They do in full Linux ports, but I’m not sure what has been removed or changed in the version of Ubuntu that runs on the Lyra.) If that doesn’t work then I’ll try to go the ESP32 “custom dongle” route as well.

I plan to try out a Pi 0 2w on mine just for shits and giggles, but will mainly be using a pico 2w with it.

The display and audio should be very simple to get working, but the keyboard may need a custom kernel module…

Just saw this other device mentioned today. It’s aiming to be a competitor to the Flipper Zero, but with a physical design similar to the PicoCalc and using a Pi Zero inside. Makes me wonder if anyone will be working on adding a similar array of sensors for the PicoCalc to turn it into this sort of pentesting device. It would probably need the Zero to run it all though.

Mostly I’m curious about the keyboard and display performance on that thing. I don’t personally have an interest in those sensors, but this seems like an alternative with a Pi Zero as it’s core, and a slightly different take on things. Probably less hackable and open than the PicoCalc, but who knows. Also, as a Kickstarter there’s always the chance it will underdeliver or not deliver at all, though hopefully it will be released.

I saw this link in another thread for a Pico-to-Pi 0 adapter board, I wonder if this would work?
