Clockwork Console concept (Clockbox)

I have an idea for a console based off of the CPI board, that can connect with your GameShell for VMU/controller functions.

STL files are here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4461321
Also added controllers to the Thingiverse page

Edit: now that the DevTerm has been announced, i am going to restart this project to be based off of it.

like a old tv

what is the size of this console?

I’m not exactly sure, but about the size of a small CRT TV

This needs to exist.

Like, what if you just slid you GameShell into the console like a cartridge and then play games?

I’m probably out of date there, but what is the “cpi concept v4”??

With an actual CRT: instabuy!

By the way, would you mind to add/link it with the Gameshell group In thingiverse:

(All GS/CPI related projects/design are welcome in this group!)

It so cool! Is the size of the screen matchs GameShell screen? or we need other screen? I am dreaming about creating a blader runner-like GameShell TV  But It too hard for me.:sob:

i thought of that! it’s a good idea, but I like the idea of being able to use the gameshell as a controller like the dreamcast controller with VMUs

the regular CPI 3.1 board wouldn’t be powerful enough for the bigger screen, and i want it to be powerful enough to play PS2 / N64 games decently, and it’s something some people mentioned wanting

i wish it had a real CRT, but an LCD with a front lens to give the appearance of the curved tube or just a plain LCD is fine, and i posted on the thingiverse group

yeah, i’m thinking of something like that, and i’m putting most of the details on the GameShell discord

I saw you in GameShell discord! Do you have a plan to create a GameShell TV which has blader-runner-2049-like UI ? I love it very much! Please tell me something if you have any progress!

Hi! i’m currently working on a functional case for one of the modular controllers. Feel free to talk to me at any time if you have an idea. Also, i haven’t seen blade runner, i’m sort of going off of what i want in a console, which seems to be similar, except that theme is sort of the D.E.O.T. version of what i’m going for, with all of the wire-frame, vector details and the sort of astro-theme

Did I just hear PS2! That’s so cool! Finally, something that can emulate PS2, i’m so excited!

hopefully the 3.14 or whatever new updated model they release in april will be up to par, i assume it will be so as it can have up to x4 the RAM, a more powerful CPU, and better GPU

Not for ps2, unless they manage to make an x86 architecture compute module. Arm just won’t cut it.
I wouldn’t get your hopes up re: PS2. I can’t even emulate it well on my computer. I won’t say more, since it’s a bit off topic, but just search up ps2 and rpi4 to get a general idea.
A lot of PS2 games were on GameCube/Dreamcast too, so that can be a stop fix at least.

well, we just noticed that they were experimenting with x86, so it could be possible

also, i found out the displays i was planning to use are the price of Trinitrons around the same size, so it’s possible we could make one with a real CRT

Yay! The Retroarch core just crashes so no other way to play PS2, But this! :grinning:. Keep up the excellent work @Metonym :+1:

Quite a coincidence. There’s stereo dock for Playdate console that looks very similar to this.
