CM5 update by editing file on sd card?

Im trying to upgrade my uConsole from CM4 to CM5 and I think I’m running into the documented issue where an upgrade done using “sudo rpi-eeprom-config -e to change whatever this is.

I’ve tried so many different methods but so far its just still not working.

My basic question right nosw is “is this info in a file in the OS image once the RPi write to SD installtion thing is done? After “installing” the image file the SD now has a lot of files on it. Is one of those something where I can edit and save these changes?

No the thebootloader and eeprom is like the bios of of the CM5, and the only way to do that is from the running CM5.

Oh, well that’s too bad.

I had ordered a Waveshare Mini base -b which arrived today. And I guess I have a dead CM5 because nothing’s happening when trying to boot known good sd cards. I can find very little actual documentation on this whole setup but it seems somewhat simple, as long as everything is working. But as I get nothing out of the hdmi port.

I think I’ll stop wasting any more time, be happy with the CM4 and see who much of this other stuff can be returned.

or you can get an io board and waste more money!
