Using keypad module with laptop?

Hello, I’m interested in using the keypad module separately by usb with my laptop. I read anywhere on the website that it’s possible. I’m using Linux and tried getting the device by dmesg and an input mapper tool but both failed. Thanks for your help in advance. Edit: I found this question (How to use the GS as a USB controller? (help)) similar to mine.

I started to play around with a tool as in most old game consoles to input text with the gamepad. It would be cool to use it always at text input.
Would you like to code anything like that with me?
