DevTerm Production Status Update

RK3399 is fine. We have a good relationship with the manufacturer. And the need is not Tesla-kind of strong

Usually, yeah. Some people might get lucky and don’t get taxed at all, but when we do, that’s what I’d expect. If it’s any reference, when we import parts from amazon, they already include all the taxes, so usually, we pay Price X + X(in shipment costs and taxes).

Sorry to hear that. Maybe it will be better if we start to look for a distributor in Brazil?

We’ll see if there’s a shipping window before weekend. If not, we’ll send your orders to carrier early next week.

In my experience, ordering electronics never took over 2mo to arrive. As for taxes, it varies - depending mostly on the shipping method the seller chooses. I have learned the hard way, that any shipments done via couriers (DHL/FedEx/UPS) are subject to taxes and “extra fat” fees that these companies insert in Brazil, making it a no-no option for brazilian customers.

However, if goods are shipped via regular tracked mail or even DHL’s “Global Mail” delivery service (which uses the local post office at the last mile) then the chances of extra taxes are very slim.

BTW is there an ETA for A04 kits to ship to Brazil?

I’m not sure if it would improve (making sure deadlines are met) or make things worse (making sure taxes are charged). Brazil’s taxes on imported goods are quite heavy and dumb… depending on how things are sent, we might or might not get taxed. To be honest I’m already happy you’ve included Brazil in the list of countries allowed to buy the DevTerm.

There isn’t much benefit to get from having a brazilian distributor because they would have to bulk import goods for commercial purposes; that means, they would have to pay all the import & delivery & “extra fat” taxes (if shipped via couriers, as I explained in my previous reply) that will incur on them; thus, they would stuff all of that into the final retail price (plus their profit margin). It would become unbearable, as we’ve already seen in many other endeavors.

As a consumer, I’d rather take my chances importing directly from the origin of the goods; try to negotiate a bearable shipping rate, if not possible then, well…

As FedEx refuses to take packages to Brazil, DHL is the only way for us. DHL express.
I trust DHL as a consumer or a partner, but they can’t guarantee us the delivery time. “Won’t be significantly delayed than usual” That was the only thing they could say.
About A04, they 'll be sent after the first batch of A06s, which seems can catch the shipping window in next week.

I’m hoping for fast service to Singapore. Going to run that A06 through its paces.

Is the ‘which’ in the last sentence means A06 units, or the A04 units?

From the grammar I learnt, it shall be A06, but I am not so sure now (I ordered A04).

I’m glad they do. They’re not loved over here. For the reasons I’ve outlined.

Like I said, I don’t worry so much about the delivery time, as long as it doesn’t arrive overcharged, otherwise it’s another trap brazilians have to run away from (as a consumer, imagine getting a DHL delivery guy by your door, then they say you need to pay >>>> than the price of the goods you ordered just in “taxes” such as “airport services/dispatching/tax/etc/etc)”)

When you say the first batch, does that mean all the preorders so far, or how many?

I order 06 on Dec 23, 2020 and my order is not in the first batch? It’s about 10 month!!! I want to know how many of the first batch? which time of order would be in the first batch? When will be the rest 06 be send?

You did order a CM3? Or an A04 or A06?

A06 nor A04 DevTerm hasn’t shipped yet.

Also, 23 December 2020 was about a month after the preorder started, so I have some doubt you would be part of the “first batch” even for the CM3.

It’s A06 and not in the first batch of shipment plan. So I want to know how many of the first batch A06 and what’s detail of the schedule for the rest A06.
