The upgrades CPI board was made purchaseable with free postage when it came out. I wouldn’t be surprised if the same would happen for an upgraded screen.

Apparently one is in the works, but who knows when it will come out?
Also I doubt it’s a coincidence that the screen width is pretty much the same as that of other 320x240 IPS displays.
