HackerGadgets' uConsole Upgrade Kit - adding NVME SSD(PCIe), RJ45 Ethernet and USB 3.0 to your Uconsole

Issue is that from Aliexpress, none of these are confirmed. It’s like the luck of the draw…..

I wasn’t able to get a WD gen4 (PC SN810 NVMe WDC 512GB) drive to work. after 6+ hours I gave up.
Installed a gen3 Hynix (BC511 NVMe SK hynix 256GB) nvme, and got it running in 2min.

so it seems there are some nvme’s that just don’t want to boot….

Thoughts re a 3x 18650 option @vileer ?. Yes the NVMe would have to move, right side maybe ?.. Would probably have to be designed so the centre battery gives access to the outer two.

Probably, but I only have experience with the 4. So I don’t have personal experience to compare, I’ve only read about the 5.

Other members will surely know.

i’m coming to arrive at the same conclusions having read all the boot issues that other users have highlighed.
i flipped mine around and lo and behold… i am using a gen3 SK hynix 512G.
no heat issues, and boots reliably.

Your website states AIO V2 and antenna pack sold out, can’t pre-order ?

As you may read in the "Statement Regarding AIO v2 Internal USB-C Power Supply Issue and Compensation Plan", we don’t have sufficient cash flow to order the expensive components for the AIO v2, such as the R860 and the RTL2832U, for mass production. The minimum order quantity for those components is 1 pack (4900 pcs), which is about $60k for 1 pack of R860, and $38.5k for 1 pack of RTL2832U.

But we still have some leftovers for R860 and RTL2832U(around 200 units). I will manufacture 150 units after the Lunar New Year. And save 50 units for the prototyping for other projects.

Due to the awful pre-order experience, we won’t sell it before we receive the boards from the manufacturer. Although the product was listed as pre-ordered, we still received many emails asking why their orders hadn’t shipped a few days after they placed them. And if the manufacturing process didn’t go as scheduled, people complained.

The product design baseline is that they will be compatible with each other. The left side of the battery board was reserved for the AC1200 Wi-Fi card or the upcoming LTE dongle. So I don’t have any plan for the 3x 18650 battery board because it will lose NVMe support.

But I will try to make a dual 21700 battery board that will suit the product design baseline.

I was thinking pre-orders may boost your finances for now @vileer and allow production to recommence. I’m happy to order what your website says is in stock for now (below) if production of the out of stock items WILL resume ? (when roughly ?).

  1. Antenna mounting kit.
  2. Uconsole upgrade kit, cm4/cm5 adapter board, NVME battery board with battery holder, expansion board with rj45 and usb3.

Dual 21700 would be amazing ! (with larger battery cover plate ?) . Possibly a replacement battery holder option too that will fit the current board ? (for those happy soldering themselves).

Side question. Antenna mounting kit now for up to SEVEN antennas yet your antenna kit has FOUR ?.

I would agree on the pre order part. it would also help on how many people who would like to get the stuff.

the antenna mount photo on the site is hasn’t been updated if that’s what im understanding.

Juicy LTE dongle yes! But for the 21700 battery would it fit the battery compartment?

Yeah I got confused about that as well ;p

@hotellonely @DigitalDreams It will fit with the official back plate.

absolute legend, thanks!!!

Uconsole upgrade kit just ordered @vileer , with nvme battery board and battery holder, no expansion card… Shipping date estimate ?

Thank you @vileer for mentioning a few costs here, so that those who always know better can understand the economic scale and risks involved even in small projects. It is absurd and ungrateful to expect the same from you as from a global corporation. Thank you for taking these risks and doing such great work!

If you’ve ordered, it will be shipped tomorrow. And tomorrow is the last day we can ship the orders. Orders placed between tomorrow and the 24th will be shipped on the 25th, after we return from the Lunar New Year holidays.

that’s crazy!! Why do you have to buy so many? Maybe send the CEOs some nice presents for lunar new year festivities so they will lower their MOQs!

Ready to build the last Radxa CM5 build tonight
