Great work! I tried to order and pay via Apple Pay, but for some reason it doesn’t allow for a shipping address in Hong Kong. Can you see if it can be enabled? Thx!
Stuff like this I’m normally happy just to have it in a static bag.
That looks like it should be on the shelves in paces like MicroCenter for retail sales.
Yeah, I pack it in a static bag, and did a bit more like added this plastic box since we also go through CE compliance and all that, just to make sure we’re not breaking any rules when shipping worldwide. But yep, I totally get your point!
Could you check again and may try a different payment method? we may not able to have Apple payment for some reason, but i can ship it to HK for sure.
Thank you i think you have sent me one to review i look forward to receiving it looks like a very handy tool. I have quite a few devices i could use this on.
Jeff Geerling showed one of these briefly in a video from opensauce.
I don’t remember which day, he mostly was just walking around at some tables.
I think it was towards the end of the video on day two.
Great! Give me a shout if you run into any issues installing the application on your uConsole. We’ve had one report of a possible driver issue with certain images, which required some extra steps to resolve. You can reach us on the Openterface Discord, where our dev team and other users hang out, or feel free to create an issue on our GitHub repo: Openterface_QT/doc/flatpak_installation.md at main · TechxArtisanStudio/Openterface_QT · GitHub
I may order one of your Mini devices. Not to get off topic, but does this require USB C 3.x, or will USB 2.0 work fine for this when it attaches to the laptop?
Any issues with HDMI to Displayport adapters? I have a lot of DP only devices in my lab rack and it would save me from moving things around to get local monitor/keyboard/mouse. I have a few different brands that work with my HDMI KVM switch (and worked with the Nano KVM Lite until it failed).
Does your Linux application for the Mini work on the uConsole? I’ll probably mostly use this with Windows, but a backup of using it with the uConsole would be nice. (to bring things back on topic)
Yeah, the PCB for the KVM extension is pretty much the same as the regular Mini-KVM, just tweaked to fit nicely inside the uConsole as a built-in. So yep, you can totally use the normal Mini-KVM with uConsole too. Same app works. Like I mentioned above, best to install it via Flatpak on uConsole.
For most servers, you’ll need a VGA-to-HDMI converter cable. And yep, also works fine with DP out as long as you’ve got a DP-to-HDMI converter.
Bit off-topic but kinda related, I also showed off our KVM-GO DP at Open Sauce, along with the HDMI and VGA versions. Planning to launch them soon on Crowd Supply. Might be something you’d like? It’s ultra-compact.
The first one on the left is the DP version, and the second from the left is the full HDMI version.
We’ll also have a VGA version later on, but I’m still working on the case design. it’ll be a bit bulkier compared to the DP and HDMI ones.
When the KVM-GO is plugged into the target device’s video output, it looks like this: One USB goes to the target as keyboard/mouse, the other goes to the host.
Anyway, hope we can get your support when this one kicks off on Crowd Supply. It would mean a lot to help make it happen. Cheers!
Those KVM-GOs are amazing! Doing awesome work man keep it up!
Thanks, I’ll probably order a mini in the next day or two and a decent vga to hdmi I have an old one that works, but nice to have something newer.
Sure thanks will do i should have it soon thanks once again.
Hey folks Sam just dropped an early YouTube review of our Openterface KVM Ext. board on uConsole. Go check it out!
Right now it still takes a bit of effort to get the app running, especially if you’re on different Linux distros. Try our Flatpak apporach first, and see if you need to sort out some dependencies.
Also, we just got our CE/RoHS test results. All good to go
We’re now finalising packaging and prep for the first batch fulfilment. Shipping soon!
Cheers & thanks for all the support!
Hey folks! Our first batch is shipping now thx to all backers for making it happen! still got a few left if u wanna grab one. after that it’s back to preorders till we hit enough for next run, so could be a wait.
For everyone waiting for their openterface ext card.
I have packaged up the software and u-dev rules and added it to my repo for easy installation on the uConsoles running my Debian based distros.
It’s now just an apt update
and apt install openterfaceqt
away to install the software.
Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk have a great day!
The Openterface KVM Extension for uConsole is now officially certified by the Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA)!
Certification ID: CN000021
All schematics, circuit diagrams, and related open hardware resources are publicly available in this Github repo: Openterface_KVM_Ext_Hardware
That means you can study, tinker, and even build it yourself if you’d like. Better yet, you can join us in improving both the hardware and software — be part of this amazing open-source journey! Cheers!
