Replacement wifi antenna

I saw people making excuses for why this couldn’t be done, but you’ve gone and done it, looks great

double sided foam space works good too- it gets the antenna element off of the metal body …

Awesome! Gotta connect my 3D printer up again just to do this! But I wonder how you would be able to connect a wifi antenna and a 4g lte antenna.

I seem to be the only one with no wifi problems here. I have mine connected to a mesh/wifi extender network that has very good connection all around my house though.

I just didn’t have a small antenna to use, so I used a 3dbi antenna.

Have tried experience very good, need to use, IPEX 1, generation and need, 15cm, 8mm, length of bolt

For what it’s worth, I was getting terrible performance with the the stock antenna Sugru’d to the chassis. Despite my attempt to give the antenna a little bit of distance from the metal, I wasn’t able to use WiFi more than 20 feet from my router.

And then I pulled the wire to give it more slack, keeping it from touching the outside of the chassis, and the performance improved dramatically. Changed nothing else and I can now use it anywhere in my apartment.

Might be worth making sure that the wire isn’t in contact with something.

This worked perfectly. Thank you!

Here’s a link to a matching 6mm length screw, if anyone else is looking for them as well:

Thanks for the link. Too bad they have only packs of 50 in stock right now. As soon as I can find a use for the other 49 screws, I may actually be able to justify placing the order.

My wifi antenna is not long enough to go though the loop? How did you do it? Can you show the inside? or which antenna did you order that has a long enough cable length?

Edit: Just saw the link for the longer antenna.

I had the same issue. My original A06 was defective and would randomly cause a kernel panic/crash. It was replaced with a new A06 that would not connect to WiFi. Clockwork Pi next supplied a replacement main board, and once both were swapped out the Devterm functioned normally.

I recently received my Uconsole with a V5 main board and CM4. I installed the defective A06 and confirmed there is something wrong with the core by replicating the panic/crash. The CM4 is functioning perfectly.

Did any of you have trouble with the STL file for that WiFi antenna mount? Shapeways is saying one of the walls is .5mm thick.

which one? there have been a few antenna mounts posted in this thread. fdm printers can print that small though, so prolly no one had issues.

Thanks. The file posted by mex.

What a difference this made for WiFi signal strength! Went from 2 to full bars. Thanks for the make that made this easy.

I have some Dji Mavic 2 antenna laying around, so I tried it and very happy with the improvement.
The part number is p02968.15, there are some places sell it, on ebay and aliexpress

Hey, your work is amazing! The bracket fits perfectly.

Since the heat-shrink tube near SMA connector on my antenna cable was so hard, the bracket seems slightly misaligned because of spring-back force. I slightly cut the tube so that the alignment looks perfect now.

Here’s my 3D printing equipment for your reference:
Printer : LumiaX1
Filament : Henkel LOCTITE 3D 3843 BK
Pitch : 100μm

Ho! I love the “fixed” decal! :star_struck:

Little update : I re-printed @mex 's fantastic antenna bracket by using AlSi10Mg (yes, maybe the same material with uConsole itself I guess…) and the result is very good. The bracket becomes far more stable than ABS, and also looks great.

Printer : EOSINT P760
Metal Powder : EOS Aluminium AlSi10Mg
Pitch : 40 micro meter
