Screen not powering on, no keyboard working, works on hdmi

Hello everyone

Just received my console,

Assembled all together and press the power button, green light turns on and the red led turns on the battery compartment, but no screen power up,the battery compartment is the one from hacker gadgets with the extension memory option, ,program is loaded on the eemc memory, have tried the sd card on top of the unit to boot as well, going to pick up a mini hdmi plug this afternoon to see if booting via hdmi,do i need to check anything else, thanks

I’d remove all the third-party options and try to run the stock system first. If you added the options before first boot, then you introduced more variables to the problem. Try to isolate the problem with fewer variables.

Ok so i can power up the unit and plug in the micro hdmi plug into the side and i get the screen all good :+1: ,but the keyboard and mouse does not work,i tried plugging in a wired mouse to the usb port and doesn’t work either, “not sure if it is supposed to work that easy”

Running Dragon os

CM5 with board

When the cm5 is plugged into a separate i/o expander board everything works all good :+1:

tried plugging in a wired mouse to the usb port and doesn’t work either, “not sure if it is supposed to work that easy”

Yes, it’s supposed to be that easy. Until I replaced my trackball with something that worked well, that’s what I did.

have you tried re-seating the keyboard? it s a set of connectors that touches main board.

hey there, yes i have tried reseating the board, unplugging everthing down to chassis, remounted everything, tried a cm4 as well as the cm5, tried different battery holder boards, tried without the side pcb for the speakers, tried without the sdr module as well, tried different battries, tried plugging in the usb, tried the mini hdmi,i am using the eemc ram on the cm4,when the cm4 is in the i/o expansion board for programming i can plug in the hdmi and can see the info on my computer screen, it booting up etc etc, so all i am getting is just the green light on power button no lights on the keyboard and no screen power at all, how do i email the tech team i guess? TIA

emmc on cm4? You have a non lite compute module and are trying to boot with an SD card?
You need to flash the emmc with a third party carrier board, SD cards don’t work with emmc models

i am using the built in memory "storage"on the pie 16gb,

will it boot with the onboard eemc or do i need a lite version??? and then it will boot from a sd card?

i have mentioned this before and no-one never answers it

Can you do a photo of uconsole please (open, back of it, last configuration that you have)?
I’ve seen plenty of barley noticeable thing previously, and having a look on it by another set of eyes is helpful

if you flashed a uconsole specific image to the emmc it should boot, but it can never access the sd card, that’s a hardware limitation of the compute module that can’t be fixed

i have also tried the original battery holder and the original cm4 holder as well that came with the console

There’s chance that you break it.
This flex should be connected other way around (5V to the top of uconsole)

USB3.0 (limit to 2.0) and Ethernet will not work with CM4.

I’m not sure what it will break, but according to HG:

thanks for that :), i have popped it round the other way, but still wasn’t working weeks before this module was installed :frowning: the poor thing has never powered up with original parts :frowning:

One more question then - since it wasn’t working from start.
Which image you are using? This one?

Trixie is probably the best image to try
You can flash the emmc with the hackergadgets board

Also to make sure the compute module is plugged in properly, you should plug the module into the carrier first before putting both in the mainboard, there’s too much flex in the board and sodimm connector to properly seat the compute module connector.

You should always connect a wifi antenna to the antenna port on the CM4/5, trying to transmit without an antenna can damage the radio, and Rex’s images default to the external antenna.

Because of the design of the v5 mainboard USB won’t work until it boots successfully

hey there, i first started with a CM5 with the dragon OS, then tried another file from this site cannot remember what it was, I accidently blew up CM5 on the i/o programming board, i had the heatsink loosely sitting on top, when i plugged in the usb cable to the programming board my finger slipped and the round leg of the heatsink took of a part on the board and looks like it shorted the chip next to it $460 down the drain :(, i shed a few tears and swear words at the same time :frowning: ,so i saved up again for a CM4 to have the same probs as before, pretty sure it is running the version you metioned here :), can see it on my pc screen when boot up in the programmer i/o board

ahh stayed tuned, i ordered another main board so hopefully it should fix it “hopefully”

Why not fix it?

You can’t break it more
