Is the 5 gonna be a drop in replacement for the in the uConsole?

Yeah, that was my worry too. The Raspberry Pi 4:

Idle temperature: around 40-50Ā°C (104-122Ā°F)
Load temperature: around 60-70Ā°C (140-158Ā°F)

But the first few articles Iā€™ve read said the 5 is about the same, and under typical loads would run even cooler than a similarly loaded Raspberry Pi 4.

So, there is hope heat will be drawn away by the case through chunk of heat conducting ā€œtapeā€.

if and when someone gets a 5 that they can use with their uConsole if you will test for me I will make sure Void runs correctly with it

I expect CM5 to be cooler and faster than CM4 due to just being a generation or two ahead in node process. Basically, an undervolted/underclocked version would certainly run cooler even under full load, and still be overwhelmingly faster. A stock clocked version would throttle if pushed to limit without proper cooling, as many intel CPUs in fanless design do (like, 10 seconds burst then throttle down).

I wouldnā€™t use my mobile device as any kind battery powered mining rig or an LLM training infrastructure anyways, so Iā€™d overclock the CM5 inside uConsole and enjoy.
