I’m torn between CM4 and CM5

CM4 104000
CM4 108000

CM5 104000
CM5 108000

Which one will you choose?
I want to hear your suggestions. Thanks!

You might as well go for CM5. It has greater capacity and speed than CM4.

All so consider the CM5 Radxa.

I ended up going with the cm5108000, and everything is working great. It’s so fast I love it.

FYI: people undeclock them to get better battery life and reduce heat. have fun!

I haven’t played around with underclocking or overclocking it. I’m afraid of ruining my image and then I’ll have to start all over lol. I get three hours of battery life and that enough for my needs.

Does anybody know if the cm5 has the same Bluetooth and WiFi interference issues the cm4 does?

do you mean in general or your uconsole on cm4 has issues with wifi? do you know that stock antenna is crap?

I’m not using the stock antenna. I drilled in a proper one. Raspberry pi’s have a well known issue where wifi and bluetooth interfere with each other. Scroll down to wifi-coexistence

Essentially, if you’re using a high quality bluetooth audio stream at the same time you’re not connected to a 5ghz wifi channel (or have the wifi turned off), bluetooth degrades until it disconnects. Even on 5ghz it’s there, but usable, and this is all with the fixes in the link applied. With wifi turned off entirely, it works as expected.

Did you use the waveshare cm4 riser?
If you have link to adapter you use, and thermal solutions?
And picture of your setup will be Awsome

After some time now using cm4,cm5,radxa i always come back to cm4 its the great battery life you get from this module. Yes cm5 is great if you want that extra speed. the Radxa seems to drain the most power if you have the gpu version like i have. Hopefully some day we will get some cool expansion board for it to include the ,missing stuff that don’t work yet. But for now CM4 is perfect. I will be doing a review of Uconsole soon showing all these 3 inc the SDR and lora expansion module in action.

Seems like there is room in the case for 2 more batteries… Would that not work to extend the battery life or is the charging circuitry not able to handle that?

Cm5 is the way to go. I sold my cm4 uconsole. Now getting a new one to use with a cm5 (8gb version)

Just curious though, If just some regular 3500mAh 18650s how long does the uconsole last? Also, what solutions do you use to combat the heating issue without underclocking?

It’s mentioned here that you can create a Proxmox backup for your uConsole, I am also looking at doing it because started over wwwaaaaay too many times now:
