SOLVED - New User - Need to install CM5

Hi

I am a new user and so sorry if this has been answered.

I just ordered my UConsole with WiFi and 4G, CM5 with 16GB RAM 64GB eMMC and a few PAiSUE 5500mAH batteries with charger.

  1. Do I need to buy anything else?

  2. Where can I get the latest version of bookworm for the CM5 to work properly? Are there any special steps to do in the install?

  3. I see some of you have done a WiFi antenna upgrade. What’s the best solution for this?

  4. I’m quite good with modding; is there anything I could do to make the UConsole better for everyday life?

Thank you in advance for all your help.

wait, I just want to verify those PAiSUE 5500mAH you said. are they 18650s? if they’re a size larger it would not fit. Dunno if the clearance is good if you swap out the battery holder though.

Oh my days you are totally right.

They are not 18650.

All I did was search 18650 battery on Amazon and picked the one with the biggest mAH.

I should’ve read more thoroughly.

I’ll order 18650 right now.

Thanks.

from what i’ve seen, Nitecore and Xtar have the highest capacity at 4000mAH with the best reviews. nitecore is heck alot expensive though. good luck!

I’ve literally just ordered 4 batteries from Fogstar.

2 with the owl wrap and 2 with the shengen wrap.

Can someone please give me a link or advise which thread for the 6.6.y bookworm image for CM5.

I’m having a really hard time finding it.

6.6.y is out of date now RPi has moved to 6.12.y and I’ve moved my images over to it also. This is the thread you want now.

@Rex

It seems like you are the UConsole god.

Thank you again.

No problem, it’s my pleasure.

I got these batteries, with a charger, from Amazon UK and they’ve been surprisingly good with the CM5:

They are nice. It’s a shame to hide them away inside!

Random batteries from Amazon are a recipe for poor battery reliability/longevity, a LOT of 18650s are misrepresented in terms of capacity and output; I recommend checking Mooch’s battery charts whenever working with 18650s

I just use Sherlock Ohms batteries. They are built for vaporizors so their output is high.
