Spotifyd and spotify-tui on uconsole

hej all!

does anyone have any luck with installing spotifyd on uconsole? i’m running the factory kernel, and am persistently getting errors whenever i try to connect through spotify-tui – i can’t seem to get the daemon started no matter how hard i try. after following the instructions to the letter, dropping by here to see if anyone else has had any success with this.

What compute module are you using? If you’re on the CM4, then I’d be googling for how to get Spotifyd / spotify-tui running on any RPI4 type hardware, since the stock OS is just Raspian with an out-of-date- kernel. Are you sure that Spotifyd still works in the first place? Spotify does break things from time to time, and there’s no guarantee a 3rd-party client will still work.

In general, when trying to trouble-shoot things like this, you need to get console output or output from the system log file. With systemd, then journalctl is usually how you get access to this – however for SBCs that rely on flash, it is often advised to disable logging to preserve the flash media.

hej! thanks for dropping by.

i’m running cm-4, from what i can tell, spotifyd seems to be working still, has been recently updated.

the only reason i’m focused on the old kernel is because i’ve had similar issues when installing artisan. when following the install guide, completely ignored that their raspi image is for deb 12 bookworm, had issues, ended up running a flatpak.

normally i would get logs, but there is nothing to show: the script is simply not found in the first place when ran thru bash, while all installation steps on latest release followed to the letter –

bash: ./spotifyd: No such file or directory
