Dusting off my GameShell after many years. Can someone explain to me why I can’t add roms over usb or just plugging the SD card into my computer? for such an open source device it really feels like they made it as inaccessible as possible to actually use.
It won’t connect to my house’s wi-fi, even after I got the password right. It might be because it’s 5G so i installed filezilla again and selected USB Ethernet like I did all those years ago but it won’t connect. I put in the ethernet IP that tinycloud gives me, cpi/cpi and port 22 but it just won’t connect. is there a different port number for USB Ethernet?
well, I suggest to connect GameShell to a 2.4G WIFI , Then in filezilla, use 22 port ,ssh way to connect to GameShell( default username and password is cpi)
I guess there is something wrong with your usb-ethernet
so is 21 the correct port for usb ethernet or not? I know for a fact the USB connection is working, and the ip that tinycloud gives me for ethernet is 192.168.10.1
are the username/password different, does it even need them for ethernet? all filezilla tells me is “connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity”. I know for a fact i got this working before. There is no reason for this to be this difficult, I cannot fathom why it doesn’t just have USB file interfacing.
still nothing with either of the protocol prefixes and matching ports. i’ll try to switch the home wifi to 2.4G but the gameshell can see the network even when it’s 5G, it just hangs on the “validating authentication” part and then just fails without so much as an error message. starting to remember why I never used this thing.
okay, fixed the wifi and now it can connect but I can’t get it to connect in filezilla. I type in the IP, password, port and the error message I get is “Server is in violation of the SSH specifications, it does not terminate its identification string with CRLF. As per RFC 4253 section 4.2 it MUST be terminated by CRLF.” the heck is CRLF? carriage return? i can’t really type one of those so i’m not sure what I’m supposed to do differently or what filezilla wants
it’s not a huge deal, i can just use the command line but filezilla is a lot more intuitive.
Sounds like you can just use an older version (3.69 or older) of FileZilla if you want to stick with it. Seems like their update broke connections with other legacy servers too.
