Ubuntu 22.04 for Devterm CM4 with working Fan Daemon and fast audio switching ! WIP!

oem-config is broken, just do what it want, let it crash and, IMPORTANT, let it gather its crash information, then you can click ok on all error messages and its open another first time use wizard…

Will it work on uConsole?

I have no uConsole so i can’t test. But because it’s using the kernel from @Rex it could probably work with some little thinkering. But i only have DevTerm software installed in this image…
Probably some uConsole software is needed and probably some of the software need to be rewritten to work again…
But everything that uses the same hardware then the DevTerm should work, for example the near instant audio switching.

And if someone would sponsor me a uConsole even without core, i could test and develop for it too…

Got it, thanks. I was going to test Unbuntu on uConsole by myself. Going to take 24.04 for Raspberry Pi, some ready-to-go kernel (from @Rex seems to be reasonable, just to find the link to download), copy/migrate utils/software specific for uConsole from my current set up, and double check that everything works. Does not seem to be complicated, I have huge experience in setting up Linux on different tablets, thus that should be easier I think, at least because there already is working Linux distro :slight_smile:

Install worked like a charm. :slight_smile:

Put it on a 512gb microsd with balena etcher, put the microsd into the devterm, let the install do its thing and crash, clicked a few times ‘ok’, and that’s about it.

@lanealucy thanks for your work!

Its ofc sometimes a tad on the slower side, but that is all due to a cm4 lite being not optimal for full fledged ubuntu, but it works well enough.

I also found out that it looks like that it starts every time in power save cpu speed mode. I hadn’t time yet to find out why this happens and where to implement a fix, but it helps to set the cpu speed governor to conservative every time you restart
