I’ve noticed a lot of people asking what actually changed between the original uConsole display and the newer version, so I took some time to look into it. After comparing the two, it turns out the only real hardware difference is a single diode, shown below.
This is the new display module.
there are 3 versions of the screen now, is your old the original or second one?
Actually that is a resistor, noticeable by the description “R”. A diode would be named “D”, capacitors use “C”.
Any link to replacement displays by any chance? I would like to have one at hand, just in case.

you can ask alex to sell you one via email, they’re not available anywhere else, people have looked and not found anything in the past few years
I simply ordered a complete uConsole as a spare. That way, I have every spare part in stock.

That’s a good idea, in my case the same part would fail twice, 
To be honest I’m not really sure weather my old display is the first or second version, I did get it last year and didn’t need a new kernel for it to function so maybe that helps.

that doesn’t narrow it down, since the second display rollout was a lot smoother and well planned compared to this latest one, the drivers and everything were already fixed before it started shipping
Fair point, are there any major differences between the two and when did the second rollout come around.
if I’m not wrong, A-06 doesn’t support 2nd revision too 
Looking at the dates on the ribbon cables I can confirm that the old display in my case is the second version.
At that point the other core variants were already out of production and could definitely be considered unsupported
