Uconsole Running Parrot display issues

I’ve found a bit of a precarious issue…

My uconsole, running parrot, boots up fine, I log in from the admin screen, then I get a short loading icon with my cursor, then the display goes dark… when unplugged…

If it is plugged in and charging, I have zero issues.

Brand new batteries, fully charged. Found zero loose connections.

Anyone have this issue in the past? Anyone have a good solution? Is it a parrot OS issue or something else?

Thanks everyone!

have you tested the batteries? what brand and mAh are they?

Word to the wise ─ if your batteries were advertised as being 4000 mAh or over, and especially if they were advertised as being greater than that, they most likely are garbage in reality. I would personally buy batteries only from reputable sources (and Amazon most certainly is not a reputable source), and then only with a maximum rating of 3500 mAh.

Batteries are from Samsung. 3500mah I’m pretty sure.

I can log in fine, then screen goes dark.

But I can plug in and I have power. Then I can also unplug and go dark, then plug right back in and have screen back right where I was… no boot up process or anything. Nearly instant.

Can confirm it isn’t the batteries. Tried two new, fully charged, and tested batteries. Also Samsung.

Maybe something i installed? A Linux tool?

Have you tried it on any other image and see if the same results happen?

I can try that. I think it may have been something I installed. Cause I’ve been running it a ton with zero problems with parrot. Did an update a few days ago then had the issue I had with the update was the admin screen was sideways, but everything worked totally fine besides that. Then some days after that update, and installing some tools, this came up.

This issue arose after I installed some tools… would that be a possible cause?

could be but it only doing it on battery would be weird.

Where did you buy the batteries? Just because they say ‘Samsung’ does not mean they are legit ─ and Amazon is rife with downright fake batteries.

I’ve been running the uconsole on this set of batteries for days without a single issue…

Then I replaced them with brand new ones. Voltage tests out well. Fully charged. Same issue persists.

If it was the batteries, I would think the console wouldn’t even boot.
It boots totally fine and will stay on the admin Lock Screen indefinitely until I sign in. Then the screen goes dark after completing some process. I log in, it loads for a second, then goes black. Computer module is getting power and working normally, just the screen goes black, up until I plug into power. Then it works just fine, then the second I unplug, it goes black again.

Brand new batteries. And, like I said, I’ve been running for days on the one set without a single issue, then two brand new, unused ones I just tried and still having the same issue. It boots very well and stays alive on the Lock Screen indefinitely up until log in.

That doesn’t strike me as a battery issue… maybe I installed a bad tool? I was installing stuff that was mainly meant for Kali… maybe there’s an issue there? I had been warned by some pages that some of those tools were a bit less than ideal for Parrot OS… maybe that’s the case?

So, I tried bookworm and it works fine on battery. So that eliminates the battery idea…

I think I might just try starting over and wiping the OS and re-flashing.

My guess is there is a Kali tool I installed that isn’t playing nicely with parrot on uconsole.

Most recent install was Sherlock

My Parrot is still going fine, I generally only use it on battery with cheap pink 3500 cells. Mine is a CM4 powered device.

Good to hear! I think my issue was a Kali tool… not sure what. But I went on a spree of installing fun tools and exploring them and their functionality on the uconsole… i think that’s what did it.

Once I wiped and reformatted and reflashed my SD card, it’s been running fine. Bookworm runs decently well too.

I’ve been trying to figure out the issue, but the DNS on bookworm isn’t wanting to fix. Been consulting chatGPT on ways to fix it and none have worked. Not sure if anyone has a good truck for that…?

Parrot has been great since the reflash though.

I guess don’t go nuts installing Kali tools on parrot🤷🏻‍♂️

I think the only tool I installed was Minicom because I like it better.

I did put a hypervisor and win11 on, but found out that one of the tools I really want is not allowed to run in a hypervisor. So no luck there and I’ll eventually remove it.
