Assuming that you’re running Raspbian, you’re gonna need to install ARandR, which is a screen layout editor utility. Do keep in mind that you’ll probably need to restore the original layout before you unplug the external monitor as I don’t exactly remember whether or not the OS handles hardware changes like such as unplugging/re-plugging external monitors.
I am currently connecting my Uconsole to my Nexdock lapdock using a HDMI and USB cables. The lapdock becomes the primary screen, 14 inches, as well as a full keyboard. This is a really nice arrangement and is working well.
