Hi yes I believe the one without lora,GPS,SDR is unaffected.I think I have found a way to load the WiFi modules here USB-WiFi/home/How_to_Install_Firmware_for_Mediatek_based_USB_WiFi_adapters.md at main · morrownr/USB-WiFi · GitHub So the problem we are having on Radxa CM5 is the OS does not have the WiFi drivers in the kernel. These would need to be added manually that’s why theres no WiFi.
So far radxa CM5 rex os after updating it with all the updates it seems very efficient and better power life than CM5 pie which is nice.
@jutleys im pushing a new image with battery indicator. In case you don’t care about that, here is a NetworkManager fix you can manually fix but that will also be baked-in in next version
That’s great can you also add the driver for the hackerGadgets WiFi stick USB-WiFi/home/How_to_Install_Firmware_for_Mediatek_based_USB_WiFi_adapters.md at main · morrownr/USB-WiFi · GitHub
I think I can even achieve a triple boot so SD card boot, emmc boot, SSD boot, that’s 3 os that is possible just need a way to boot them in order.
How did you prepare and image the NVMe ?
USB imager will clone easy
I have tested a 1tb SN740 2230 SSD drive in the Radxa build seems to work fine for storage fine. Since I plan to migrate the os to emmc i rather keep the SSD for storage
I have the 256Gb initially but unable to test as missing CM5 and Hackergadgets aerials/mount. One locked in a post office cage, the other stuck in a Chinese airport for a week
. How much of a speed uplift do you get vs SD card ?, why move from Nvme to emmc ?
I think less power draw from emmc than nvme. I am still figuring out a good way to flash the emmc correctly. Nvme will primarily act as a storage media. And the SD card slot will act as a second os to load on demand.
Let me know once you update your build with the new added WiFi drivers and battery meter I will test it out thanks.
Tonight I will attempt to load these modules on the radxa CM5 for hackerGadgets WiFi card hopefully I can get WiFi going USB-WiFi/home/How_to_Install_Firmware_for_Mediatek_based_USB_WiFi_adapters.md at main · morrownr/USB-WiFi · GitHub
I checked and these wifi drivers seem to be already in the folder lib/firmware/mediatek on Rex radxa with latest updates. so scratching my head on this one why the wifi networks are not showing up if the drivers are already in the os. If anyone has any ideas let it be known. @Rex any ideas? i am using this as ref USB-WiFi/home/How_to_Install_Firmware_for_Mediatek_based_USB_WiFi_adapters.md at main · morrownr/USB-WiFi · GitHub
WIFI_MT7961_patch_mcu_1_2_hdr.* /lib/firmware/mediatek
WIFI_RAM_CODE_MT7961_1.* /lib/firmware/mediatek
BT_RAM_CODE_MT7961_1_2_hdr.* /lib/firmware/mediatek
Lsusb output its definitely picking up the adapter.
Ls /lib/firmware/mediatek/
This is my WiFi adapter model
So for now i have removed the WIFI card and now using a Edimax usb dongle inside in the type c port which is working fine. I will need to investigate the issue further for the hackergadgets card.
