So hi all I would love to see anyone who has the radxa CM5 and the latest hackerGadgets AIO2 kit since now most the stuff is supported with the new radxa CM5 board from vileer. Please post pictures of your build inside and what you got working etc thanks. I will be building this over the next few days and will post what’s working etc.
So first flashing the radxa rex image for the Uconsole to the emmc using the below method. It wrote the image successfully, I am using rkDevTool v2.86 and for the carrier board I am using a cm4 io base box see pics. Please note your need to put your CM5 board into mask mode by pressing the little button see pics. Then plug power in you will see Found One MASK ROM Device this should be the internal emmc see pic below.
I believe Rex is working on updating his Radxa CM5 .img. In the meantime My last Uconsole should be here so i can start building it with the Radxa CM5 and HackerGadgets AIOv2 board and a few other mods i have planned. Stay tuned i will post my build images here for other to follow along.
I know the Radxa CM5 is a power hungry beast so i am looking at ways to power it theres two options below. First option is to use x2 10,000 mAh batteries setuup with the adapter from @lululvlv which supports dual Lipo batteries but now sure how this will work with 20,000 Mah lol. The second option is to use @lululvlv new 18650 x3 battery mod. Hopefully one of these options will power my Radxa CM5 soon
Ready to build the Radxa CM5 tonight I will post pictures up here of the build hopefully it boots up. I have big plans to heavily mod this unit for now just a build and adding too later. My main concern is power source as its a hungry beast. I hope this thread will inspire other to follow and build Radxa builds with a built in GPU inside its good for some good gaming with some good cooling.
So far so good running on 18650 batteries first just to get it booting
@vileer is this the correct position for the ribbon cable on the expansion board for the radxa.
@Rex getting a blank screen at the moment just charging the batteries to see if there to weak, I did flash the emmc as per above no SD card inserted using your image should it work like this. Or I need to boot from SD card?
I am getting a blue light on the radxa board green light on the power switch and red light on the WiFi card. But black screen on Uconsole. Any ideas guys what could be the issue. If I am using emmc on radxa do I need to flick the jumper on the hacker gadgets board at all I have left as default. So looks like the issue is this is a new Uconsole with newer screen but the radxa image has not been updated to reflect the latest screen drivers that’s why we have a blank screen. So the solution is I can try a older screen which I have a couple and see if the screen boots.
It was installed correctly. You don’t need to flip the switch to boot the system. You can try to connect to a hdmi display to see what is going on.
I will have another try I did try putting a older screen on but still the same so I guess I will need to debug it through hdmi output.
Its alive finally using the new Arch Linux image.
Thanks to @randomlinuxuser
@vileer can you confirm the WiFi Bluetooth dongle plugged in type c should work?
Rex’s kernel for the radxa cm5 don’t include the mt7921 drivers, I had to load the modules myself to get it to work on my raxda powered uconsole.
Can you show me how to load the drivers thanks
I’m a major linux noob, so i just had clause ai guide me through it. Can’t access that old chat right now while I’m at work.
Nicee did you flash it on emmc?
Also please link me the drivers when you find one, I will try to have them preinstalled in next version.
I used the SD card having issues flashing to emmc I need to make sure I am flashing to correct address on emmc. I will put up the drivers going to try in a bit tonight
It looks like Network manager service is missing in this OS and i am unable to connect to anything. I have tried enabling it but to luck. Are you able to check it thanks.
what does journalctl -xeu NetworkManager.service say ?
I will try that since I can juggle between yours and rex image my main concern is just trying to get the WiFi adapter working on any image since that will allow me to use the device atleast. I think the main problem is the network manager service is not loaded or running.
It looks like the radxa is reading the hackerGadgets WiFi card in the usb see picture. It seems may be i just need the drivers does anyone have a link to the drivers and how to add them?
So your saying you just installed drivers for the hacker gadgets wifi card and it works in the radxa cm5? using mt7921 drivers. do you have a link for the drivers. Can you show a picture thanks.
