Radxa Cm5 on uConsole, tell your experience

Hi,
I wanted to buy this Radxa CM5 16GB/128GB Model but even though I saw on the forum that some people made it work but I have a few questions

  • how good/smooth is the compatibility with existing hardware modules
  • Do I need a specific image to make it work or can I use the ones available in the forum for RPi CM5?
  • Is there anything I need to have in consideration before going the Radxa route?
  • Can someone that use this share his experience?

Mine just arived today for testing. 8GB version with built in GPU.

No WiFi, no bluetooth, no 4G.

Other than that it’s the final hardware, runs HL2 like a charm.

I am sure it will get some updates. wifi and Bluetooth just use external usb. Sound hopefully fixed if rex has time to take a look soon. It has a more powerful GPU that CM5 5

It has a more powerful GPU than Switch 1? Maybe testing later… Edit: for my 3D MMO the Raspberry is on par at 720p… Confusing… will test older Intel and Jetson…

I mean HL2 is more than twice as fast on the Radxa maybe even 6x…

Edit2: It’s probably CPU bound on my game…

Please post updates and how is the experience.
The extra performance and the eMMC 128gb space sounds very tempting, I do care about wifi and bluetooth though.
Edit: I just read online that radxa doesnt have wifi/bt in the module… that’s heartbreaking

Just use a usb dongle or 4g module.

Yes, buy I didnt want to sacrifice usb…
I would probably go for this and use my USB module and put an Alfa network card (so it can has monitor) inside and use an antenna extender to put the antena on the top of the case like if it was the default antenna.
How was your experience so far with the radxa? I’m still in doubt as I mainly want to install Kali, Parrot or Arch which none have images for radxa yet
