Weird battery Interaction

So I noticed that whenever I pull out my batteries from my uconsole and put it back again, the battery level changes. just this morning, the battery went from 50% to 10% for some reason, then I tried to do it again and it went back up. however, its not consistent. sometimes, I have to do it multiple times to properly get the charge level right. any help is really appreciated.

Could it be that the battery contacts are corroded or that there are other contact problems, such as insufficient pressure?

that’s what I thought at first, I cleaned the contacts and and reinsert the batteries but the values are still wrong.

I forgot to mention:
-my batteries are xtar 186510s (69.2mm) which are longer than normal 18650s.
-I’m using Vileer’s battery board (though I don’t think this would be the main issue since its working properly if the batteries are placed.)

Is the battery board properly inserted into the motherboard? The plugs must be correctly inserted into the sockets.

oh yeah, I also cleaned the contacts and double checked it.
I wouldn’t be an issue if I don’t need to pull out the batteries when the system crashes

Then I have no other ideas except for cold solder joints.

ooof, that’s gonna be so annoying. I’ll try and swap for my original battery board. will update probably by tomorrow. cheers!

Maybe use a quality contact oil on all battery contacts ?. NOTE I have found contact oil to cause issues on high frequency and high voltage connectors but helpful on low frequency/DC contacts/connections SO DON’T SPRAY EVERYWHERE (or use a cotton bud to apply)…

2nd thought. Removing the batteries somehow upsets the calibration routine ?. These routines don’t simply measure battery voltage but monitor charge and discharge currents, store min/max values and guess what 100% is from them !.

thanks for the tip. I’ll try it.

you’re talking about this one right:

echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/class/power_supply/axp20x-battery/calibrate

I’ll try and redo a calibration. because the last time I did a battery calibration it took around 3 reruns just to properly align it. and draining those xtars take like 4 or 5 hours and charging for 3 hours.
