Whilst deciding whether or not to back the project, I decided that the only way I would be interested was if there was the ability to use L and R trigger buttons. From what I gather, the Lightkey add-on would allow that capability. Would my assessment be accurate, and if so, can it be used simply by attaching it according to the instructions provided?

This is correct, the Lightkey gives you L1/L2 and R1/R2 buttons and attached to the Lego rear case and connects to the GameShell internals with a provided cable.

I’ll be honest. If I get to make anything at all I’ll be satisfied.
It also provide some LEDs that we can make to light/blink
(Or that’s my understanding, hence why “light”?! I do have to says the descriptions of it is … light XD)

It connects using GPIO, so I don’t see why we couldn’t. I suppose the “light” could be used as the opposite of “heavy”, but I doubt this is where it’s namesake came from.
