Battery life - how to get most out of battery?

Hi all,

I am using my CM4 Uconsole for some browsing, emailing and sometimes to watch a short youtube video… All in all I can squeeze about 2,5 to 3 hours out of the battery. I have read that others get up to 5 hours. Is there a smart way to let the unit go into sleep mode? It is a bit frustrating needing to shut down and reboot all the time.

Kind regards,
Kristian

A lot of the power on time is the batteries. With my CM4 I got about 5-6 of use, using Samsung 35Es. What batteries are you using?

Hi,
I am using Panasonic cells - 3400 mAh. Maybe I need to get some better ones…

Using green MXJOs and with various TUI apps and light usage or idling at work I can get 6-8 hours of time easy.

if your console just slightly warm I also would blame batteries. I too have 5+ hours easily.

Li-Ion 18650 Samsung 3300mAh 33G Protected

hey, is are you referring to these:
Samsung 18650 Li-Ion 3450mAh 8A cells.

  • Battery capacity: 3450mAh
  • Discharge current: 8A
  • Voltage: 3.7V nominal
  • Protection: None (unprotected cell)
  • Dimensions: 18.2mm × 65mm

Or better yet, would these be a good fit for the uconsole ? Mine is about to arrive next week.

These are the ones I use and recommend. Get them from a reputable source and not amazon or aliexpress.

Thank you - this is what I will be looking for…
Kind regards,
Kristian

The protected ones work well too, though they are a tight fit. I got some for the DevTerm way back when and they’re still going strong. (At the time, discussions seemed to be tending toward getting protected cells, which I realize now are probably overkill, but that’s why I got them.) Though I haven’t taken them out again, except at the start just to make sure I could, I put a loop of scotch tape around each of them so I’d have something safe to pull on to get leverage when removing them.
