I’ll compile and test it tonight across all 3 CMs. I should also be receiving one of the “New uConsole Panels” in the next week or so and will test with that also.
Merged the change, it still doesn’t work with the CM3 though. I’ll have some time this coming week and was going to clean up the overlays a bit and look into a few driver issues, like the charge light. I’ll also check out the CM3 panel driver.
I have now tried this all again with the stock panel, and the replacement one I picked up from AliExpress (which has a 40 pin FFC MIPI connector and a matte finish on the screen).
Reverted to CM4 + stock panel. Tried the Bookworm image - it worked (although the desktop was initially rotated, which was quick to fix in the settings). However, after running all the apt updates, the display came up blank; I was able to ssh in, but there was no sign of what was going on with the display, presumably / possibly a kernel update broke it? The blank display also seems to match what I saw previously trying the CM5 and new panel, running through the setup wizard and installing all updates → no display after restart.
Tried the Parrot Home installation on the same setup, that works.
Tried the replacement panel and CM5, with the Bookworm OS image on eMMC. The display lights up in full white this time (yesterday, it worked, but with a corruption across the top line of the screen). An external display on the microHDMI port shows a Pi wallpaper sometimes. I haven’t run through the setup wizard. Anyway I think the replacement panel can be run from the same driver, but I could just have been lucky a couple of times.
I’m now beginning to suspect the FFC cable as well as the connector, so I ordered a new 40 pin ribbon which has a longer length for me to play with. Basically I’m not having a lot of luck with the display here.
Can you setup a new image but not update and see if you can shutdown/reboot a few times and have the panel come back up.
You can build a 2s battery pack like I did. It works nice. Bookworm 6.12.y for the uConsole and DevTerm - #170 by avs.andrew
I have already ordered the CM5 16GB lite and are waiting to be shipped, but I’m thinking of canceling it and ordering 8GB 64GB.
Was there a situation where 8GB was not enough with uConsole?
Depends what you’re gonna run on it, it’s just a computer. For me 8GB is more than enough on uConsole. 64GB of storage is another thing, I would say it’s a tough fit as you could not use SD cards with the EMMC model.
My mouse wheel has stoped moving left just happened all a sudden. I swapped from 32gb sd card to 128gb all worked well. After i set it all up the mouse stopped moving left any ideas anyone?
It’s probably just the junky stock roller assembly. I replaced mine with one from aliexpress that works a lot better.

You can also try and clean it with some IPA.
Luckly i ordered 2 in advance lol just replaced it now its working. But i am shocked it failed within a week. I think i will order a pack of 10 just to be on the safe side.I did a few upgrades today Got Sandisk 128GB Extreme card and some Samsung 35Es.
@Rex i took your advice and tried 128gb ultra fast card and the samsung batteries worked out great. I should have my second uconsole this week for my second project Radxa testing.
Can ABXY be turned into mouse directions? Does the keyboard need the new firmware to make that happen?
The keyboard would either need new firmware or you can use a program like antimicrox to remap keys.
Rex rocks, My dumb butt didnt think to check the config.txt in the fat32 partition because well… dumb. and for my playing around I learned rex is not exaggerating… i now have a chonk bit of heat sink from an old P4 with some PTM and its decent, but it throttles before its done booting if you dont.
Dies anyone know of a small digital video TV dongle that can fit inside uconsole.
Something like this should fit, you might need to take it out of the plastic though depending on the girth of it.
How about this one has dab radio too Tbest External TV Tuners,RTL2832U USB DVB‑T FM R Dongle Digital TV Tuner Stick: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo
How come you used an internal micro sd instead of a usb? I can’t wait to get one of those boards, I’m jealous lol
I have more SD cards then good sense. lol
I use them for my home folder, I have one 256gb one with all my work stuff on it. Another one loaded with games that I stick in for when my kids wanna play something retro.
