Bookworm 6.12.y for the uConsole and DevTerm

I see a strap around the batteries, have you had problems with them bouncing out? Mine lives a pretty hard life in my IT bag, haven’t had issues (yet?).

No haven’t had any problems. if you look at the bottom of the battery tray I cut a chunk of the PCB and battery holder out to make a SDR fit better before I got the SDR card.
I just put the strap on for piece of mind.

@Rex Trying to run the newest version of pursa slicer and I am getting an Opengl error. Is there a way to upgrade the opengl driver to 3.2? Thanks.

The highest OpenGL version Raspberry Pi supports is 3.1

I got my CM5 and tried to install. Tested the latest version (6.12.22) with different SD-Cards. Display is going on (backlights) but no text output. Shutdown via 2x power button workes. @Rex you mentioned a workarround to get the display working? But i don´t know how to do this. Maybe i can get a hint?

uConsole or DevTerm? If the uConsole do you have the older panel or the new panel that just started shipping? EMMC or lite? Did you apply any custom settings when flashing? Have you tried to re-download the image in case it was corrupted?

Can i ask how do we reconise oldnpanel and new. Asni uadb2 uconsoles within a month.

If you have access to the device via serial or pre-configured WiFi + SSH you can tell via dmesg output. The cwu50 panel driver (for uConsole) will print out whether it’s detecting the old or new panel, at least after my last PR to @Rex’s kernel.

I feel like at some point we should just implement automatic retrying in the panel initialization sequence.

Hi Rex,
sorry for the uncomplete informations. I have a unconsole from summer 2024. so i guess it´s still the old display. The CM5 is a lite version and i didn´t apply any custom settings. I used the raspberry imager. I tried the 9.12.19 and the 6.12.22, both downloaded from mega and google drive. Any ideas left ? Should i try another imager ?
thanks so much for your assistance

Use the HDMI to see if you get any output to a monitor. Have you tried different SD cards? You might need to apply the EEPROM fix, to be able to boot to apply it try small SD cards.
Maybe if you try that post a picture of the inside to see if anyone can spot something wrong.

finaly i got it working. the cm5 wasn´t snapped in propper. Maybe the cooling pad lifted it out of the socket. But i got another problem. Thanks so much for your hint. That helped me so much.
Tried to install VARAac (ham radio softmodem) via raspitools (box64) afterwards. unfortunately it needs a kernel with 4k pagesize. changeing it breaks the setup and it won´t boot anymoore. Any chance to get a version with 4k pagesize ?

in the config.txt in /boot/firmware add kernel=kernel8.img to the [all] section of the config.txt and reboot and you’ll be using the 4k kernel.

Fun story, I put my CM5 upside down on my first try

they could have made it a little more obvious

Batocera is the way to go Rex it should boot on the CM5.

I’ve been meaning to check it out, I just get busy and forget.

Its so much better than retropie i think and easier great hardware support too. The amount of systems supported out the box is crazy.
