@Stormy @guu So i can agree that your test image doesnt show anything on the display but works fine with HDMI output. Ive also tried the latest bookworm and parrot image again for the CM5 but the HDMI just work while bootup for some seconds.
Try updating to the latest kernel with either the parrot bookworm or Trixie images since you have HDMI out. Then reboot and see if the screen is working for you. sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade assuming they’re one of the images I’ve produced.
I ran through the installation with various images. With the current images for Bookworm and Trixie, neither the display nor the keyboard work. With the Trixie image, I was able to see the desktop’s graphical user interface, but I couldn’t enter anything using the keyboard. Even an external keyboard connected to the USB port didn’t work. In my opinion, there are several sources of error. For this reason, I was unable to perform an upgrade.
Did you use my custom Trixie image made for the uConsole?
Normal raspberry pi images will not work with the uConsole as the device needs out of tree drivers to operate.
@Rex Yes, I tried out your images from last fall.
Last fall ones wouldn’t work. That was before the cm5 was released. You need a newer image with a newer kernel to be able to use the cm5.
Do you have a link to your latest Uconsole +cm5 Images @Rex ?
For example, I tried the images from the folder ClockworkPi - Google Drive . Those are yours, right, or did I look in the wrong place?
You can find them in the Google drive link in this thread.
Yes those are my images.
That’s good to hear, I thought I had taken a wrong turn.
For now i cant get any image to work with the display or hdmi besides uConsole_CM4_v3.0_64bit_cm5_test1.img.7z from @guu (only hdmi out)
The latest Trixie and Trixie Lite have the same Issue with the Display after booting up and also HDMI is not working. While in Bootloader i can see for Display:
DISP0 HPD=1 EDID=none, DISP1 HPD=0 EDID=none
Ive also tried to update via the test_image_cm5 but it failed so far
Have you updated and edited the eeprom on you CM5 as outlined here?
When you flashed my trixie image did you apply any custom settings like user/wifi/host? If you did the image will fail, reflash without custom settings.
so I have the same issue. Also new uconsole and cm5 lite 8gb ram. Updated the eeprom and tried the newest trixie image. Without custom settings etc.
Did you get output over HDMI? Not only update but change the configuration settings in the eeprom as outlined in the link I posted above?
Yes I changed the configuration like suggested above. Will test hdmi tomorrow. I’m waiting for the cable
I came a step forward.. I updated the EEPROM as you explained and saved it. Now i still have the same issue with the display while trying the latest Trixie Image (no custom settings) but the HDMI is working. unfortunately is just see it as a second Screen..
Have you fully updated the image. I released a kernel update a week ago that should fix the new screen.
It is working after the kernel uodate! Many thanks so far! But now i have vertical lines on the display.. any idea?
Seems like there is still a issue with the driver changes to make this version of the screen work. I don’t have the newest screen so I can’t test nothing out for it.
