I'm stuck, and my frustration is winning

I am beyond frustrated with this right now…

CM5 lite with hacker gadgets aio

I finally got passed the eeprom issue and only to get slapped in the face with this bs.

8 different SD cards, 6 Sandisk and 2 Samsung.. ranging from 8GB to 128GB and NONE of them will get me passed this stupid screen and only on HDMI

The uconsole screen won’t show anything but the backlight… I’ve checked all connections over 20 times already disassembling and reassembling… and still nothing.. (as pictured)

I’ve tried every single ISO from Rex and none of them will fully boot passed this damned wallpaper. Using Balenatrasher and R.Pi Flasher..

I’ve reset the the uconsole over 100 times and still nothing, seems I’ve only wasted my time and money with this stupid thing.. I’ve been at this for 4 days now and I’m about ready to just set the damn thing on fire..

If anyone could be of assistance, my sanity would greatly appreciate it…

Personally I use cm4 but maybe the fact you use cm5 could be an issue if you have any cm4 around try testing it then you can look further into the cm5 setup (I know you need some sort of adapter board from either waveshare or hacker gadgets). Hopefully this helps if not I hope someone more experienced than me can help.

welcome to the linux!

are you 100% sure you’ve tried images with updated screen drivers?

after you update EEPROM you can use any working sdcard, no need to try them all anymore

Lol, I just redownloaded Trixie lite from Rex’s google drive again.. reflashed my sd card again, and this is all I’m getting on the uconsole.. I connected it to hdmi to double check the eeprom and it’s up to date and configured correctly. Not sure why it won’t just boot up

try regular trixie, not lite.

SD_QUIRKS=1

In eeprom config ?

yes, I’m about to download & reflash the sd card to the normal (Rex) Trixie build to see what happens, I had to load the lite version to gain access to this… and this is thru HDMI keep in mind (since all I’m getting on the uconsole is a black, backlit screen)

Regular Trixie, still nothing…

It might also be worth removing the back and making sure all your ribbon cables are fully seated and correctly oriented it won’t do any harm checking in any case.

seems like you are doing everything right,

if everything is fully connected and cm5 module/adapter board fully inserted – it may be a hardware issue,

try to write to alex@clockworkpi.com help@clockworkpi.com

yeah ribbon cables upside down. check out their official site for pictures. they also state setting the cables wrong may fry carrier board if set to charge

i had teh same issue, but i didnt make the mistake of charging the uconsole. then i checked their site and i fixed it

oh, you do have a wallpaper on your external display. nevermind. i dont know

we need Rex here. REEEEEEEX? @Rex

If the image boots and you not getting hung up on the bootloader then the eeprom is fine.
The keyboard and USB are fine correct? You didn’t change anything in the config.txt did you? Has it worked at any point?

I’m not familiar with the “config.txt” so I don’t think I’ve touched that lol, I got the uconsole on Monday set everything up with the hackergadgets AIO kit. But without the antennas and all that.. it turns on/off just fine with the Trixie flashed SDCard. But when switched on the screen backlight blinks and it just stays lit.. left it on for 2 hours last night but still got nothing.. I ended up plugging the HDMI in and it seem to extend the display showing just the wallpaper, I messed with the cursor ball and I saw the mouse moving on my tv… keyboard works fine given that’s how I updated the eeprom. Also plugged in a logitech keyboard via USB for shitsNgiggles and that worked just fine as well

can you try to run it with stock hardware?

also check this thread: SPI on = Black Screen

I’ll have to disassemble it again later tonight, but I went thu and edited the config.txt , still no image.. unless something is wrong here?

i had much crap written here. i deleted it

i tihnk the above post answers your question. the one with SPI setting

So did you ever get an image on the internal screen? Have you set it up stock without the hackergadgets stuff and boot a clean image?

Sorry late response, got called into work yesterday didn’t have time,

I just swapped everything over to what came in the box from CW. hit the power button and I’ve finally got an image!

Just want to thank you guys for the help thus far, greatly appreciate it! This whole time I’m thinking cm5 won’t work without the Hackergadgets adapter :man_facepalming: but now how do I actually get the HG kit to work tho?

test each piece, first just the adapter, then add the battery board (no nvme installed), then put in a nvme. so forth and so on. till something quits.
