DevTerm construction

Is there any way to make your own dev term using the models made by clockwork pi and buying the parts from clockwork pi? I assume the case can be also made from another material too…

I don’t think anyone ever found the printer or screen for sale anywhere

alex can sell you keyboard module from uconsole.

they may have spare parts for devterm somewhere in the box.

Well I suppose I can akways ask if there is anything there left and make the rest or so :3

I am assuming it can be upgraded with new stuff if the parts are provided like different modules and add more stuff to upgrade the device once you get it :slight_smile:

I will send alex an email asking if they still have some models in stock, and i will ask if they have replacement parts for the devterm so that we can build our own with the spare parts instead of waiting for the kit to restock again, which i think isn’t going to happen anytime soon, because the release was nearly 5 years ago

no, it won’t happen, alex answered someone that devterm was discontinued.

well I got mail from Alex, there is not enough spare stuff u.u

time to aim for the files to build one I guess D:

got mail, there is not enough spare parts D:

Now I wonder about construction, wonder if I can set up a whole new case made of metal like the uconcole for the devterm and then add a radxa as @Kyzer did it and maybe upgrade battery for something heavier… maybe be even a bit larger screen for it.

The Radxa processor is not in yet… :weary_face::weary_face:

Still waiting for the upgrade kit from Hacker Gadgets… :weary_face::weary_face:

I do wonder about a devterm with a radxa and larger battery and screen…

P.S. Do you mean that you haven’t test it? or is not ready to be used (software not usable)

I want to assume that Changes can be made to the case (manufacture a proper one) and then put another screen with other size inside. I am making a list of what can be retrieved and the available files so far for manufacturing one :confused:

I have not tested anything yet… processor or IO board.

Are there any special OS I need for it work? Or would any of Rex’s CM5 OSs work?

I am dying to get my hands on a DevTerm!!!

Do not know anything but I assume that having a larger device makes more room for any change you want to do, like adding a larger battery, larger screen and maybe then a most powerful IO board like the radxa but I am more akin to get a PI CM5 maxed for this as I would want a fully functional distro D:

I am ling trough the dxf files to sort them and see what is needed to make them again, I don’t see the screen yet. Not so much worried about the printer, that could be used to connect sensors or maybe analog stuff, who knows…

After going trought all the dxf files I have all of them and more or less an idea (years I don’t do this), about which parts are available. Found and screen with the same characteristics that is sold for raspberry pi projects @snipeytje. I would assume I have to deal with the connection if it’s even the same, but there are many of those screens apparently. @white-round-square about the uconsole keyboard module I have a question; does the uconsole module works for the DevTerm? It is not even the same or is it? I have the dxf files for the pcb if not but it’s just the pcb, the keyboard construction is another problem (keys and everything). I do not mind to send it to fabricate with a pro service but I wonder how @AlexDuan and his team did it. There are a couple of lost things like the speakers and the wifi antenna but will check tomorrow for more. I do wonder if at the end, fabricating one prototype will allow to add a radxa as the one @Kyzer bought and even maybe switch to a larger battery. Found a company to fabricate the pcb stuff too… maybe no cheap but whatever, it is a prototype.I assume the case can also be modified too. Let us see. also I need to search for the actual list of components. Will sent mails tomorrow to see what can be done :slight_smile:

@J_2010 sadly as it was said, Alex confirmed that the DevTerm was discontinued u.u. But maybe with some work, another prototype can be made.

Nice research… :ok_hand:t2::ok_hand:t2:

I wanted to wait to show you this… :slightly_smiling_face::upside_down_face:

Let me know if I can help in any way… :saluting_face::+1:t2:

Yep I knew this was going to pop up sooner or later, some devices were produced by other entities ( not clock work pi ). I do not trust them enough tbh and maybe producing one is the best way to be able to obtain a product you can modify.

Still, what a pain will be the connections and the software,

This should workout well for me, I think.

I’ll be using the Radxa CM5 in the Uconsole once I receive all the parts from Hacker Gadgets.

I’ll use the Pi CM5 in the DevTerm… :+1:t2::ok_hand:t2:
