I Just ordered the following parts for my build. Is their anything that I may have missed or that is not compatible with one another? Is their anything else recommended that I should consider adding?
Thank you!
UConsole from Carbon Computers: DIY Kit, Barebones (no CM5) + Wifi + 4G
Battery
Sd card or NVMe
And patience - don’t expecting it will be a build and enjoy, some fiddling, tweaking, fixing, modding and learning curve required.
Enjoy ~
Search the forum, it should have some discussion about compatibility information and experiences. I personally stick with Raspberry Pi (branded) NVMe.
When you have NVMe, and all other stuff, there will be power issues with the current main board. The workaround is to underclock everything for the time being. There will be an official fix soon - it’s not that bad for the time being.
Added the following:
KingSpec NX Series 1TB Gen3x4 NVMe M.2 SSD, Up to 3500MB/s, 3D NAND Flash M2 2280 Internal Solid State Drive ( Plan to run it at Gen 2 speeds)
SANDISK 64GB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - Up to 160MB/s, C10, U3, V30, 4K, A2, Micro SD - SDSQXA2-064G-GN6MA
4pcs NiMH Rechargeable Battery 18650 Universal Charger 4 Bay Set
Kingspec uses low quality or/and used flash chips. Please use well-known manufacturer ssd such as SunDisk, Samsung, Kingston, Adata, Seagate, Western Digital (WD) etc., not shitty KingSpec, Smartbuy, Fanxiang, Dogfish, Digma, QOPP
You need a li-ion battery, not NiMH. Buy Murata(sony), Samsung, Molicel, Vapcell, Panasonic(Sanyo), EVE, LG, Ampace, Reliance, Tenpower, Dmegc. Do not buy: Liitokala, Ultrafire, Trustfire, generic, Smartbuy, pitatel, any 18650 higher than 4000mAh.
How are these for NVMe and Batteries?
-WD Green SN350 WDS100T2G0C 1 TB Solid State Drive - M.2 2280 Internal - PCI Express NVMe (PCI Express NVMe 3.0 x4)
SSD is OK, but battery is not compatible with uconsole. It’s maximum discharge current is 2A, it’s a little lacking. You need at least 3A discharge current due to current spikes. I use custom made battery pack 1s 2p vapcell f60 (12.5A maximum discharge current each)
Thank you for catching a specification discrepancy that I missed. I’ll keep looking for other recommended models currently available.
I was happy to get the notification today that despite many of the items being listed as (Pre-Order) it looks like all of the parts from HackerGadgets have shipped in just a couple days from ordering.
I assume from what I have read, I will likely not have as short of a wait for my Uconsole from Carbon Computers. to ship
No need to be sorry. I’m sorry to hear your batteries don’t work. You’d be best off checking out Samsung, LG, Panasonic or Sony. Avoid capacities above 3,500 mAh, as they are fake. Stick with reliable sellers.
Sorry, my mistake. Vapcell is not manufacturer, just brand. They use FEB(Far East Battery Co.,Ltd) battaries. Drawbacks: low maximum current, high price and little bigger dimensions than regular 18650.
