I was looking for if there is a handheld device runs on RPi or similar SBC and I found Clockwork and absolutely fell in loved with the products. It was sad to see the estimated shipping/delivery times, apparently it was a bit optimistic after seeing the forum.
I did browsed the forum a bit and If I’m not mistaken the fastest option for uConsole is Silver version without any options. What I am curious about is, what is the waiting time with 4G ext. module? Is the delay caused mostly the color or ext. module or compute module itself?
I would like to have 4G ext. module as well and unfortunately that is not separately available.(which should) Also some other parts should be available too, probably these asked by community already, would like to learn if clockwork has intention to offer these separately.
Hackberry pi 5 by ZitaoTech is an absolute beast, I have one and I strongly recommend it. It doesn’t have 4G but I guess you can buy a usb module or if you are knowledgeable enough you can add it to the rpi5 via another board.
Regarding the uConsole, I also have one but haven’t tested it because I’m waiting for my CM5 to arrive. With this said, the uConsole is much bigger and has metallic frame in comparison to the HPI5. But the lack of ssd capabilities on the uConsole makes a huge difference in both performance and reliability since sd card usually break after a certain time…
I really wish that Clockwork releases a new motherboard or some way to upgrade current uConsole with better IO and SSD capabilities
Actually, I saw this and other similar type of projects initially, but couldn’t find one I could buy right away. Nice you got your uConsole. I’m not sure but theoretically it should work if you attach a 2242 m.2 ssd to expansion slot. There is database for supported boards for both CM4 and RPi 5,
To properly secure it in the case I think you would need a custom mount brackets.(3D printed probably)
What options you had on ordering and how long it took to be shipped to you?
The expansion port is not pcie, its just using a connector. the expansion port just has 2 usb2 port and gpio wired up to it so a m.2 pcie card would not work in that port.
