HackerGadgets AC1200 WiFi Dongle antenna wiring

I’m assembling my uConsole and working through setup mostly fine. I’m now stuck at what must be a silly spot. How do I wire the AC1200 antenna?

So far I’ve used the stock antenna connected to the uConsole’s mainboard, not the CM4’s.

I have not seen any instructions on connecting the AC1200’s antenna. Do I need an extra long connector to reach through the antenna slot at the top, or does it use the existing antennas?

Thanks in advance for your patience!

Cheers!

The main board antenna is not connected to the cm4, you need to use the cm4 one, and the sticker shouldn’t be directly on the metal case, it works a lot better the further away from the case it is.

You can achieve that with some foam tape or a plastic spacer, anything non conductive really.

Did you order the antenna kit with your hacker gadgets stuff? That should have the wifi and bt antennas and cables for the ac1200. You can also just get some ipex to sma cables and order some wifi antennas from AliExpress.

Thanks! That’s what I was suspecting. I think it was a simple oversight. I ordered the antenna kit (7 antennas) with the mount (4 mounts) and the WiFi dongle. None of the cables are long enough for the dongle. I’ll order some, I think they’re cheap enough.

Wait, 7 Antennas with 4 mounts?
If you ordered from hacker gadgets you should have gotten 7 antennas and the 7 mount?
Which has the cables long enough for each mount included.

you can ask for the old version, but that also doesn’t get you the extra long cables for the ac1200

Ah, now I see my mistake. I like the 4 mounts but did not examine the difference close enough to realize the longer cables are in the 7mount kit.

I’ll just get the 7 mount kit, it costs the same as ordering a handful of cables.
