You can’t just buy a battery and only pay attention to its capacity. Batteries have various key characteristics. If these are not specified, don’t buy the battery!
If you buy an unsuitable battery, it’s not the Hacker Gadget Board’s fault.

It would have been nice for him to have published the required battery spec. I looked all over the website and even emailed him asking for the info. I still don’t know if the specs of this battery are compatible.
Seeing the same confusion in this post.
Because there is not a simple, single answer, as configurations vary. It depends on your setup how much current is drawn.
Do you have a recommended source for lipos? Trying to fin units that actually have tech specs on Amazon or Ali Express is almost impossible.
Dude, get real, do you have this setup, Is yours working? There should be some guidelines as to what works? Most people are using CM4 or CM5’s. Give us some idea of what is needed to run the hardware, that should not be that hard.
I’m really waiting for Vileer to chime in since he designed the and should have some idea as to what works? What battery is he using on his prototypes?
I don’t want to be rude, but I don’t feel like doing your homework for you. However, I’m glad to tell you what you need to do: add up the maximum current draw of all hardware components of your setup and choose a battery that can provide this total current as a continuous load.
I have no experience with Lipos from Amazon. On AliExpress, you usually find the data under “Specifications” as “discharge current” or “max. operating current,” etc.
You’ve definitely burned that bridge already.
We have some really rude people on this chat!!! Let me spell it out for you: the 18650 battery board model is a like-for-like replacement and is designed for basic-level people and for the advanced users among us they provide it without the 18650 holder so you can support your own not supplyer supported battery option for those that like to tinker and 3D print replacement back covers for personal supported projects, it is not for those in the group that don’t understand Lipo tecnology and are a danger to themself and everyone living with them. For the safety of everyone, just unsolder the 18650 bracket from the original battery board and put it onto the one you got without it and be happy with the capacity of two 18650 cells.
You installed the USB3.0 ribbon cable incorrectly. Flip it!
After installing the RJ45 Ethernet and USB 3.0 expansion board. If the uConsole can’t boot, make sure the ribbon cable is installed as shown in the picture below.
Never ever plug in the charger if the ribbon cable is installed the wrong way; otherwise, it will damage the uConsole mainboard.

hi @vileer, may i suggest that you include the ribbon setup image in the expansion guide here?
The directions of the ribbon is quite important and can help people do some hardware checks before getting into software issues and damaging their hardware.
The direction of the dip switches would also be helpful.
my 2 cents.
Chill out. The picture on hackergadgets store page shows a single large lipo made by the same manufacturer that Davkenrem has nestled in the back of a stock case. He’s not stabbing it with a screwdriver or hooking it up directly to a 5v unregulated supply. There’s no reason to be an ass about it. If you can’t contribute to the conversation in a helpful or at least funny manner, please find something else to do.
Good catch. I didn’t think to look anywhere other than the battery board.
Can you tell us where you sourced the lipo you used? Almost none of the 9854102 sized packs I’ve found have any useful specs in the listing.
@vileer documentation is pretty scattered. Could you start a wiki on your github that people can contribute to and then link to it on the store page and in a pinned post on here? That way you can put the basics out and then the community can fill in the blanks.
I am going to write an individual hardware setup guide for the upgrade kit and the aiov2.
I bought my 9858110 battery from taobao.com. I haven’t try to source it from the Aliexpress.
In short:
same battery as yours
working fine if connected correctly
while you can measure voltage, that doesn’t mean you’re getting right connection (over current protection might kick in from your battery protection board). You need to replace the cable which is not that hard.
Getting about 28whr from that 38whr ish battery. Due to uconsole cannot charge to 4.4v and cannot discharge to below 3.3v constantly.
