I can now boot off both SD and NVME. I went back and double checked eeprom edit / boot order. It was all correct, so made no changes. I set up twister on a SD card via an extra CM5 I have on a Waveshare Base Board (B). Popped it out once I had Twister set up. Placed it in the uconsole and it booted off the Twister SD card. Shut down and removed the Twister SD, restarted and it booted back into Trixie which is on the NVME.
I was having the same issue with the Waveshare CM4 adapter board. I removed it and installed the CMX-Adapter. I just received the adapter board today, so no long term testing, but it boots up and runs from the NVME without any issues as far as I can tell.
? And there I thought I did just that 2 messages up ![]()
But anyhow, more people have chimed in already so everything is fine.
#5172 shipped. After the courier agent uploads the tracking number to our webshop, you will receive a notification email.
They used the same pin order, so it should work, just be aware the first pin(5v) positon.
Problem solved. Iāve sent 400+ packages to the freight forwarder before the New Year. They already sent 70+ out, and the rest were held due to the holiday. They will send the rest out around the 5th. And the rest of the unshipped orders(non-Radxa version) will be fulfilled before the 10th, after I return from my vacation.
Hello Vileer,
Best wishes for 2026!
Thank you for your reply. I only received an SMS from FedEx, but it does include a tracking number, so thatās fineāIām able to follow the shipment.
Regarding the upgrade kit (previous order), just to be sure: what type of NVMe PCIe M-key SSD should be used with the NVMe + battery board included in the upgrade kit?
Iām mainly wondering about Gen 3 / Gen 4 / Gen 5 compatibility, just to be sure it will work properly.
Thank you very much in advance, and have a great day.
Gen4/Gen5 SSD was downcompatible. But they usally required more power. So the Gen3 may be the fist option.
Noted, thank you for your quick reply!
I know this question has had to be asked somewhere but I cant find anything.
Is it possible to have a main image on the SSD but have the option to throw something else on an SD and boot from there? I didnt think this was possible and since I want to use 3 total distros, I didnt think I could use the SSD on the HG board.

after 6"+ hours (over a couple of days) trying to get my Western Digital (PC SN810 NVMe WDC 512GB) nvme to work, I decided to try another nvme drive I had. a small 2230 factor Hynix nvme. Plugged it in my mac, used pi imager, flashed one of REXās images. and it booted straight away.
Soā¦..
not all nvmeās are created equal. the wd drive, being a gen4, may have a bootloader incompatibility or some other issue, that prevents the system to boot from that drive. Whenever it tries to boot from it, I get the 5 ACT led flashes on the nvme board. This is a pattern that means it canāt find the corect boot files / incorect bootloader / Unrecognized NVMe Drive / etcā¦.
if you have this issue (imposible to boot from nvme), try with a diferent one.
Couldnāt you just partition your m.2 (use a bigger one) and use GRB boot manager to select which to start at boot time?
I have Ubuntu on a 1TB SD card, and Trixie on a 2TB NVMe. If the SD card is in place, the uConsole boots Ubuntu. If I remove the SD card, Trixie boots. Is this something like youāre looking for? I donāt see how to boot three operating systems, though.
Thanks for the insight. 2 images would be doable for me so I may go that route.
I was initially planning on using the 5th connector on the aio v2 board for the ac 1200 wifi dongle and using the old antenna quick connect board for gps/lora/sdr/onboard wifi. Iām relatively unfamiliar with the specifics of radio, if I leave the 3 of the connectors on the ac1200 dongle empty, would that risk damage to them?
While waiting for the upgrade kit, I would like to ask about compatible and/or recommended NVMe SSDs. Are there any known limitations? I noticed in one of the posts that PCIe Gen 3 SSDs are preferredācould you please confirm this? What SSDs are you currently using that work without issues? Thank you.
This is the way mine is set up also. Works really well!
Do not run it without antennas plugged up, you can damage it.
Camera: For those trying to use the CS1 camera connector, I have found a working configuration:
- CM4: I was /not/ able to get this to work, after quite a bit of effort. Not clear what the issue is.
- CM5: Just the normal way: add
dtoverlay=imx219,cam0(or the appropriate sensor for your board) to /boot/firmware/config.txt
I wasnāt able to get a WD gen4 (PC SN810 NVMe WDC 512GB) drive to work. after 6+ hours I gave up.
Installed a gen3 Hynix (BC511 NVMe SK hynix 256GB) nvme, and got it running in 2min.
my two centsā¦
