Here’s the Carbon Computers Cnc aluminum backplate!

Ok so I recently received my CC Cnc’d aluminum backplate with heatsink and fan with magnetic battery door hatch and yup it’s exactly as shown in the photos on their product page.

I had only seen that unit until now and I can confirm it’s real and it’s exactly as shown.
First off the finish is premium and it’s basically perfect outside of two minor gripes..1 is with it the magnetic batt door hatch, it is nice and super convenient but it’s way to loose and the magnets just don’t hold it in place good enough it’s very clacky at the moment so I’m gonna need to get another magnet to hold it better great idea but the magnet they use is not holding that hatch down securely it holds it but it’s like one swift motion away from just falling off.

And the other personal nit pick is that you can’t use your 18650’s which is fine for anyone that doesn’t want to use them but, I did. So I printed a frame that went around the border of the Uconsole to allow just enough room for the batteries to clear and it works perfectly!

I could use flat lipos if I choose too but I just bought six legit Samsung 18650s and kinda wanna use them you know lol.

but all in in all I love it. Its feel is very top tier premium and I’m happy I picked one up. The fan shown in the product pictures has a different end on it but if you know how a basic cm5 fan wiring diagram works you’ll be able to snip that end and solder a male 4pin cm5 fan terminal that would plug directly into the hacker gadgets adapter boards fan port.

Now from what I understand this is something you’ll have ready out of the box but I didn’t want to wait for them to get their batch of fans in and do that work for me I opted to do the job myself so I ordered the same fan on amazon (it’s supposedly out of a Dell laptop) but it works super nice.
They already have machined mounting holes to mount it up using three 2mm screws and it’s running flawlessly.

I love active fans in electronics and the cm5 kinda needs it that lil guy gets hot af if you know you know..
anyway, it’s here I love it. and also I believe I’m the only one so far that’s actually reviewed it and shown it off on the buyers side so here it is take a look. Oh, and remember I added that 6.41mm frame around the outside sandwiched between the unit and the carbon computers aluminum backplate too still have the ability to use my 18650s.. any questions drop them below thanks!

Here’s my Bambu Studio (.3mf) project file for the spacer I designed for the Carbon Computer aluminum backplate to allow for the stock 18650 batteries to still be used. I had to use Google Drive since the forum doesn’t allow .3mf attachments. Let me know if you have any issues downloading or printing it.**
