Has anyone upgraded their core to CM5? Could you share the changes CM5 brings compared to CM4 in terms of:
The performance of CM4 isn’t particularly strong — this becomes especially noticeable when watching YouTube videos. I’m wondering if CM5 offers any improvements in this area. With the performance upgrade, is there a significant drop in battery life? And how is the heat dissipation?

In terms of thermals it goes really hot though still manageable. you can do some mods to lower it.
Battery life is quite abyssal, might go with higher capacity battery. some are even underclocking their uconsoles because of heat and battery consumption
Audible buzz/squeal with CM5 when the batteries get low, we think it is due to the power boost converter running beyond limits. The adapter board has not been revised yet to handle the larger draw of the CM5.
