I got the uconsole today and I have some question

I’ve been waiting for 8 months and got uconsole today.
And my 16-year-old son put it together, and the green light came on, but it didn’t work.
As a result, I disassembled it 4 times and reassembled it, and after removing the module through Google search, it worked normally.
And when I turned it off and attached the module again, the communication was good and the operation was normal.

  1. It would be nice to have a hint about the lcd connection part while assembling.
  2. It was a little difficult when connecting the adapter.
  3. I think it would be good to change the mouse ball to something with better performance.
  4. In particular, it would be good to replace the mouse ball with a button function.

It was nice to have many basic programs in it.
I think it will help you a lot to adapt.

Question

  1. Can I use any charger? Or should I use my own charger? I have a genuine charger for Samsung’s phone Galaxy, can I use it?
  2. I’ve tried 3 phones and fast chargers at home right now, but I can’t see any orange lights. They say you can see orange lights while charging
    Can I not see it?
  3. I’m going to change my sd card to a high capacity in a few days, is 512gb of capacity available from that?
  4. Is it possible to migrate sd cards in a Windows environment?

#1 I’ve used several chargers including good USB C PD chargers, it is only a 5 volt device and should work with just about anything.

#2 my orange LED never comes on, but one of my PD chargers has a display so I can see that it was working.

#3 I use a 256GB card now, I am only guessing that a 512 would work. One point to note is that the CM5 is very picky about the cards. There is a firmware update that can fix this, but you might need a smaller card to install an OS to do the firmware upgrade first, then swap in the larger card.

#4 not sure

There are ways to get the ABXY or arrow keys to move the mouse, details are in a few threads. I have not done this yet, but it’s on my list of things to do. Specifically I want ABXY to move the mouse and arrow keys to continue doing what they do.

you can replace it with better trackball.

if you will update keyboard firmware / install qmk keyboard firmware – you will have option to use fn + trackball / select + trackball as a scroll

that indicator is pretty finicky. it doesn’t work when uconsole is powered off (probably because it works programmatically), and seems like OS updates can break it also: Bookworm 6.12.y for the uConsole and DevTerm - #474 by Rex

I suppose it works this way because ‘charging board’ is a separate module, but it should charge batteries even if indicator doesn’t show it.

seems like QMK has some support of Orbital Mouse

in QMK thread people explained how to customize QMK firmware for uconsole

I changed it from 32 gigabytes to 128 gigabytes using the migration program. 512 gigabytes seems to work, but I don’t think I’ll need a lot of memory for a while, so I’m going to be happy with it and use it first. The memory was partitioned during the migration to 128 gigabytes, and fortunately, it was automatically recognized as a separate directory.
