Newbie Question - First Power On - Screen displaying "garbage"

I finished assembly, powered on and the screen looks like “this” - any suggestions on next steps?

Re-Check (eg: unplug it completely and re-plug it back it) the ribbon cable between the main board and the display. If it’s not completely seated directly into the plug, the display will show weird things.

I did that, I have the white line on the ribbon and the white line on the board lining up, no improvement…

There’s a crack in the lower lefthand corner. No amount of cable reseating will fix that. You’ll have to email for a replacement. Be very careful that the screen is fully seated before you screw down the back shell. Some people (me included) seat the screen then use black electrical tape around the edges to fasten it down make sure it doesn’t move when adding the main board to the machine or when replacing the Pico with a Pico 2 or whatever.

And in the latest sets, four pieces of tape are included already.
