Overlocking the CM4 uConsole

Is it safe to overclock the CM4 to 2GHz using the default cooling solution of the uConsole?

This question has been touched on many, many, many, many, many times before. Search first before asking.

The general consensus is: yes, you may overclock. But it depends on the physical capacity of your module to support that. You may not need to punch a hole (or whatever) to install a custom heatsink, unless handling a >50ā„ƒ chassis counts to you as scalding. Adjust according to a balance of your requirements and the capability of your module.

I did, and there were zero results. It turns out that I mistyped and wrote ā€œoverlockā€ instead of ā€œoverclockā€.

As you can see by the title of this thread, that also says ā€œOverlockingā€¦ā€

Iā€™m concerned about the screen with heat. I built the kernel, and the screen ended up with a strange marking (Iā€™ve seen others show similar issues).

I run mine OCed on Kali with no issues so far. I have ran some pretty labor intensive progs for 8-10 hours and didnā€™t have any isssues. I believe my OC is at 2.2Ghz. possibly 2.3. i cant remember now. I also used copper shims/heatsink on the SOC then grizzly pads to the back case so YMMV.

I didnā€™t have any heat issues overclocked to 2.147, but all it did was drain my battery faster. I didnā€™t actually get any increased performance for any of the things I was using it for. Firefox and retro emulation are pretty comfortably done within the stock clock speed, and overclocking didnā€™t provide a noticeable difference.
