Radxa CM5 16GB RAM 128GB eMMC

Looks like it’s got good power… but no WiFi right?…

no wifi or audio. you’ll need to add your own.

This is everything I have ordered. What am I going to do about the audio?

As a question Rex, does the linux version in the radxa has any limitation n the software can I install from repositories due to the hardware? I assume the answer is yes D: and can I bother you a bit with another question? how we can see what we can install in the radxa, libraries, apps and so on?

cheers!

It should be able to run anything from the arm Debian repos.

cheers Rex! that is extremely helpful

Also, sorry for bothering you again Rex but do you know if the mic works on the A06? I am searching info and found out that the mic does not work in the CM4 or CM5, saw a guy making a hot fix with hardware to fix Audio stuff in the CM5 but do not know if that sets the mic in free to be used?

And does the A06 has the same software support in raspbian? sorry again for he questions Rex

The only hardware fix that can add a microphone to a raspberry pi is a USB audio card, they don’t have an ADC so need an external one.
I think the A06 does have an ADC so it can have a mic normally, but since it’s rarely used and quite expensive it’s not a popular core anymore, especially since it’s not much faster than a cm4

The A06 has the same software support in raspbian, the support issue with the different cores is not about some cores not running some software, they’re all similar ARM processors and run all ARM software. The support issues are getting debian running in the first place, they all need custom drivers and device tree files, and those might not be easily available or maintained for the less used cores

THANKS!, so if I get one that is usb that can fit at the console or devterm then I will get a functional mic? I will start to search trough amazon then

you can get an expansion board with internal usb (there multiple ~available) , insert bluetooth dongle in it

and connect bluetooth headset

True, but I am looking to a microphone to record rather than using headphones in my case. Although I have wireless recording too and that might help but might need to program an app that I connect mic trough Bluetooth an later records when x button is pushed.

if you need quality:
usb mic – need to solve audio out somehow
or usb sound card (relatively expensive) + mic with phantom power – very bulky, probably will need powersource, but the best quality

or cheapest usb audio dongle for 10$ + “mic” with 3.5mm jack

it is more like a microphone to capture sounds form environment but I need to use several algorithms for data processing later, so I am assuming a high quality mic would be the best and then might need some extra power D:

I was thinking in stuff that can find in amazon or eBay but it might depend, need to see how much quality I need as I would be doing some spectral analysis if I can.

I would recommend then some 20-50$ usb mic – best from all worlds

the more you spend the more choice you have. read about mic types and pickup patterns, like cardioid, etc.

with one you can pickup only slice of sounds, with outer all 360 degrees around.

some mics allows to switch pickup patterns, but they are usually costly

Nice! Thanks! I wanted to run sound recognition so I might even later use a directional parabolic one if I can :joy:!

there are even usb mics with integrated audio out so you can use it as soundcard, maybe there are cheaper variants too:

£124.99 SL600 Condenser USB Microphone with Live Monitoring
$100 M-Audio Uber Mic
$120 Audio-Technica AT2020USB-X
